The smooth calfskin requires a bit more care to use, than the grained calfskin used on the Saddle bags. It tends to show indentations if the bag is stored improperly with other bags/items pressed against it. The leather is a bit softer than the grained calfskin, but it is not so soft that the bag loses shape. As long as the bag is stored with the tissue paper it came with when it is not in use, then it should maintain its shape properly.

It's like the newsprint Saddle, which is also smooth calfskin.

No, I don't think it needs a hanger. At the boutique, the Saddles that are not on display are stored upright in their dustbags. Just be sure the D charm is wrapped so it doesn't press into the bag.
