Goyard frowns upon anything they view as an unauthorized collaboration. In 2016, Goyard accused DJ Khaled of sporting a fake Goyard silk jacket at the MTV Music Awards. They posted the accusation several times on their official Twitter page and temporarily froze the sales of their silk scarves. Once Khaled revealed that he used authentic scarves to make the bespoke piece, Goyard deleted their posts and allowed sales of the scarves to resume.
Wow, did not know that. That action further aids in turning me away from the brand. Very
cringe-worthy in that they:
A) wrongfully assumed that his ensemble was counterfeit, to begin with
B) didn't bother to reach out to him directly/privately, yet unstead harassed and libeled him
several times on social media (very immature!)
3) contradicted themselves: if they claimed the jacket was counterfeit, then why would they need to halt the sales of their "authentic" scarves. What does selling authentic scarves have tondo with a counterfeit jacket?
Then when they realized they screwed up, they put the scarves back for sale. Well what was the issue in the first place?
Seemed like a huge circular reference.
If anything, Khaled should be the one to sue
them for damages on grounds of defamation per quod...lol.
