love mine and I'm only 5 ft. 100 lbs.
I'm 5 ft 1 in. Bought BH first due to all the recs here but returned and got BV. BH is just too wide but BV is perfect! Does not make me look shorter. Try to go to the store and try them on in person. I wish I did that first. Straps on BV is a bit shorter but does not bother me.

Horizontal because you can spread your stuff inside the purse. If you get the vertical, then I think all of your stuff would just be piled on top of each other like a grocery bag.
But, I would definately recommend trying both the vertical and horizontal when you go to the store. The vertical one is cute, but I prefer the Horizontal. I'm 5"3 and I think the BH looks fine for my height.

i think you really need to try out the bags yourself. some people look better with the horizontal, some, the vertical.
