Bag smells like cigarette smoke!

this is the worst! I try to always ask, even if the listing says so, b/c I am very allergic to smoke. I agree with the above suggestions, but I think you need to put it outside, given the weather where you are will allow for that. Putting it in front of a fan may only circulate bad air. Do you have a friend's house where you can safely leave it outside or perhaps at your job? (I work in a high rise, so no chance of that here).

Hope something works for you, don't be bummed about your bag though!

Wow that would really bother me, I wouldn't be able to tolerate it. Maybe you can get your money back. I think there are still some states where you can smoke in bars and places so maybe she goes out a lot and that is how it happened.

Thanks for all of the tips, ladies!

I would ask for my money back, but I feel like it is my fault because I didn't think to ask. The smell does irritate me, but I really love the bag, it was brand new and I know I won't be able to get the deal I got on it again. I would rather keep it if I can and just get the smell out! Argh!

Oh I just thought of something that may work. Why don't you put the bag in a trash bag with an open box of baking soda, tie the trash bag up and put it in the refridgerator. It may sound weird but it also may just work !

Lovin my bags has these odor out bag candies that will elimate the smoke odor from your bag. I've never tried it but I have a friend that uses them and she says that they work well. Hope this helps.

I had the same thing happen, I used a fan and just sat the bag open in front of it. My bag was leather and I think it was more difficult to remove the smell than it would be from sig...

I have also heard the baking soda trick works wonders. So sorry this happened to you but hopefully it will be OK.

i bought a 'smoky' bag from ebay too ( a used Carly!). i placed it in a ziplock with scented candles on all sides, inside and on the zipper too, for about a week. It smells pretty nice now

Oh, scented candles? I have a ton of those! Lol! I am trying all of the 'free' home remedies before I go out and buy any products. I appreciate all of your suggestions and will let you ladies know what works! I'm giving up hope on Febreeze...

Yeah, I never had luck with Febreeze. I have had the best luck with the dryer sheets as the other poster suggested. I even keep them in my undies drawer so everything always smells nice and fresh. Baking soda works pretty well too at least for some things, but I have not tried it on a bag. I totally hate the smoke issue!! All sellers should state it one way or the other. I always state that and pet free home because some people have serious allergies and I don't want to make them sick!

Okay, first off, I want to explain that I have NOTHING against smokers, I realize there are many tPFers who do smoke, and I just wanted to say that I have nothing against that. I just have a question and need advice.

I am going to a casino tonight in NY, and I know that smoking is allowed in casinos there, and I was wondering, if I wore my Chili Carly there tonight, would it continue to smell like smoke? I understand it would for a few hours, but would it go away? Should I not take it?

I hope no one thinks I'm being vain or a jerk or anything, I was just really wondering....and I find it hard to part w/ my Chili Carly now...lol, it's like I don't want to wear another bag tonight....but I want your opinions...what would you do?

And I again, I just want to say that I have NOTHING against smokers in any way, I was just wondering if I should simply leave my bag at home.

Thanks!
