Hi all, as you can tell by my number of posts (1), I am new to this forum and Coach in general. I'm only looking for a black Court Willis and there are so many for sale in varying prices, so I wanted to make sure I was getting something that will actually hold its value (i.e., real!).

Item: Coach Willis Black
Listing number: 350815682189
Seller: thecoachexpress

Comments: Seller has tons of feedback but I also read through some earlier Authenticate posts and noticed that this seller has listed fakes in the past. Some other Authenticate posts with this seller also show mixed reviews.

Thank you! I have a 25% code for full-priced Coach in-store and online, so debating whether the work of authenticating buying online is worth it!

Both are genuine although since the first one is only 11 years old it's technically not vintage.

Both look fine. They are Willis bags, not Willis Court bags. The Court bag is a different style. The first one was made in 2002, the second one in 1994.

There are advantages and disadvantages to buying second-hand Coach. Obviously it is a lot cheaper to buy second-hand. Online sellers don't have Coach's excellent return policy. The older bags have thicker leather than the Coach Classics currently available, but these bags aren't in perfect condition.

Hello all I would like some help with authenticating and also naming this pre-1994 coach bag.

Item - BT rectangle top zip bag with long strap and 2 outside slip pockets(one on each side full length). LOL I don't know how else to describe it

Seller: goodwill $5.00
Link: http://s2.photobucket.com/user/cavyart/library/Pre-94 bag

Comments. I really don't have much doubt this is authentic. It's SUPER well made, extremely thick, heavy leather...you forget really that even the vintage mid-late 90's bags don't have this thick of leather..well many of them don't anyways. Oh and it has the old style one-sided hang tag. yay!
Also the measurments are approx:
Length 11.5
Height 7.5
depth 3-3.5 top to bottom

My main question is What the heck bag is this one? I've seen it several times posted on different vintage/rehab threads but I can't seem to locate it again. I love the old bags that are pre-94 but unless it's one of the REALLY well known styles (like willis, city, or janice/patricia legacy) then it's hard to find out what it's called and what it's actual style number is. If you know this info I would greatly greatly appreciate it....because i might be in love with this bag. <3! Thank you.

It's called a Swagger, style 9820 and was made around 1989-90

Seller: Trish214

Comments: the only links I can find on the internet for the style number appear to come from foreign websites

Since you're a new member, you wouldn't know about our experiences with Listia and that site's management's incredibly poor attitude towards removing illegal fakes listed on their site.

We no longer authenticate any Coach products on Listia and suggest that tPF members look for safer and more pro-active sites from which to purchase GENUINE Coach and other designer-name items.

Sorry we can't help.

Thank you! I know all to well about them not removing the fakes. I have reported many. But this particular bag looks authentic and if not it is one well made fake. Usually I can spot a fake by the creed and stitching but this one?!?!?

I'd like to take Hyacinth's comments a step further and would recommend that if any Listia members care about the site, they let Admin know their feelings.

Not only does management have a poor attitude toward removing fakes, but their moderator disclaimers and lack of action on known and admitted fakes as well as authenticity disclaimers sends a message that they will actually allow their sellers to rip buyers off and their buyers to be scammed.

I do not recommend buying from a site that cares more about its bottom line than about the honesty and safety of its site and members. Listia is one of those sites.

I have many times emailed them and pointed out the obvious and items were still left. Makes me sick! I did send an email to Coach's counterfeit department filing a complaint on them allowing the sales. Not see how far that email will get but I hope something is done.

I know this is an authentication thread so I will stop replying :-)

It's good to know that there are members there who have tried to advise Listia admin. Obviously, their "rules" are lip service because they certainly don't follow them.

I too sent lists of fakes to Coach DAILY (about 20 listings per day) and there was little action from Coach and NO ACTION from Listia. I do think Coach contacted them very few times because some listings did get taken down, but I stopped trolling Listia and reporting because I decided not to waste my time reporting and trying to help a site that didn't want help.

I have an opinion but refuse to state it because in authenticating a bag, I'd be not only helping you as the buyer but helping Listia.

If you want to support a small (and hopefully growing site), I suggest you look to Bonanza where you'll be hard-pressed to find fakes. And when fakes are listed, Bonz's admin responds within 24-48 hours and removes those fakes.

And if you know any of the honest members on Listia, you might want to let them know that they're better off selling on an honest site rather than one that has become the newest version of iOffer.
