I travel a bit and have decided I'd like to get a nice carry-on luggage. (It's also a milestone birthday present.) As usual, I researched online, narrowed my choice to Zephyr 55 in DE then marched into the store, only for my SA to inform me that Zephyr is discontinued. I really want luggage that spins on four wheels, I like the Pegase 55 in DE but it has only two wheels. It seems LV is putting all of its marketing of four wheel luggage on the Horizon designed by Mark Newson. I don't like the wide handle of the Horizon and since it doesn't come in DE, I'd "have" to get it in Monogram. I'd love to hear different perspectives from any Horizon, Pegase or Zephyr owners. TIA

I was told by a manager at a recent store visit that the Horizon will be coming out in Damier Ebene this year. I'm not the biggest fan of the horizon because the handle is odd and the piece itself doesn't seem very LV to me if that makes sense..... maybe i'll think otherwise when the DE version comes out. For a brand who's platform is traveling, there just aren't many options as you'd think.

I like the Horizon. I think it's an excellent travel piece. I want to get one myself this year. I do love the wide handle and I think it's very modern. I just don't like the two patches on the front corners. I think Pegase is an inferior traveling piece for the modern day because it's lacking the 4 wheels and I personally dislike the look of Zephyr.

Zephyr is amazing but it was a commercial bust for Louis Vuitton, probably due to its high price in the category. It's been discontinued for a while now and what's left in the inventory is mostly Zephyr 70. That being said, I understand your hesitation with the Pégase. I have one and I love it but it lacks the four-wheel technology that now EVERY carryon bag offers. However, the Pégase is a very well constructed piece of luggage.

I looked at the Horizon a few weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised. It was better in person than I imagined. In my opinion, the strongest aspect is the handle, which is designed to collapse on the outside of the bag, thereby making the Horizon much roomier than other comparable suitcases. I also like the aluminum hardware for a light-weight and sleek look. However, it does not feel as luxurious as Pégase and Zéphyr.

Anyway, all of this is to say that they are three very different products at distinctively different price points, and that they offer different strengths and weaknesses. If the four-wheel aspect is crucial to you: go with Horizon.

Have you considered waiting to see what LV comes out with later down the road? It doesn't sound like you're very happy with the current selection, whether by design or print (both of which are very valid points btw), and it would be a shame to reward the achievement of your milestone by just settling for the sake of instant gratification...and they're not exactly giving those suitcases away either so you had better be double satisfied with that purchase.

i think that it would only make sense to release the Horizon in Damier Ebele. The Horizon's handle definitely takes some getting used to.

For the price point of this luggage, I believe it should be spinning on all four wheels. Seems like a relatively simple update for the Pegase. What didn't you like about the Zephyr?

It is surprising sometimes when you like something but then you hear it didn't sell well. Yes the zephyr was on the high end but at least it had four wheels. Is anyone even making 2 wheeled luggage anymore? I feel if I bought the Pegase in DE, I'd be unhappy with those two wheels especially if they remodel it within the year. If by March, the Horizon is the only 4 wheeled game in town, then that's what it's going to be
