Yurman Inspired Pieces?

i havent bought any yurman inspired pieces, but i do love David Yurman. i am saving up my money for a bracelet as a Christmas present to myself. however my friends say that is silly and that they said I should just buy a knock off one from online boutique stores and they all buy those for their arm parties..

Wanted to know what everyone's thoughts were on Yurman inspired pieces? I see a lot of bloggers and people on instagram wearing fake yurman from those boutique shops that also sell look-a-like jcrew necklaces. i feel like knockoff jcrew statement necklaces have been "accepted", but now i'm wanting to know if "look-a-like" yurman is accepted as well? i don't buy fakes, but i'm seeing a lot of yurman inspired pieces that look almost identical on those boutique shops so i just wanted peoples opinions and their thoughts on this.

also, i would love to hear anyones opinions on what a good first Yurman piece I should buy :) Thank you so much! x

I have a lot of Yurman pieces but mine are all yellow gold so they are probably not faked as much. I know people who throw purse parties selling knockoffs and I will not support that industry. I would rather have one real DY piece than a bunch of fakes.
I would know it's fake and it would really bother me. I am about quality, not quantity.

love that! yes i agree! *phew* glad to see i'm not the only one who thinks that ;) my friends always make comments about how ridiculous it is that i would spend so much money on a designer piece when i could just get a look alike.

which Yurman piece is your favorite? I'm looking to save up for one. :)

I don't do fakes. I understand having a jeweler make a piece resembling a noniconic piece from a brand but I also won't support that industry. Get the real thing, even if it's just one it'll make you feel like a million bucks. My thing is if having the real deal isn't important to you (not you specifically) why do you need the copy? There are tons of other generic bracelets you could get instead. That's my train of thought.

love that :) i definitely agree! i've been seeing lots of girls, bloggers and lots of my friends with "Yurman" look alikes from those online boutiques/etsy and I didn't know if this was an acceptable "thing" nowadays lol.

My thought on inspired pieces: I bought my DY cuffs because I was drawn to the look, but also after having done some research on the designer and the history behind the brand, I was committed to buying DY pieces for their workmanship as well as their look.

My thoughts on a 'first piece': I would go for a classic cable cuff in your favorite gemstone color, or one with gold(or diamond) accents. They will stack well, can be worn alone, and will be a piece you can wear daily. :)

Good luck! Be sure to share what you get as your first piece!!

thank you so much for your helpful advice!!! :) i agree, i read an article about him once and have been intrigued ever since and have been wanting to get one of his pieces! No one knows or wears any Yurman from where I'm from and there isn't anywhere that sells Yurman around here so I don't know very much about him but I do love them and love to look at them online! lol.

i know a lot of my friends in other cities wear Yurman inspired pieces from etsy/online boutiques and have been trying to sell me them, but I feel like it would bother me to wear an "inspired" piece when people with the real thing would notice lol.

Thank you for your advice- I have definitely been looking at one of his cable bracelets. :) Appreciate all the help!

I would not buy a knock off. I'm not a huge DY fan but these DY "inspired" pieces have been around for years. My friends were buying them in the 2000s. I am a little surprised they are still even a thing. I agree with the above posters. There are plenty of jewelry designers that are more affordable than the big name designers. Go for quality crafted items or vintage if you can't spring for the real deal. I saw quite a few DY pieces at my local Gold/Silver Exchange. They are trustworthy so I know they have been authenticated. I'm sure they were a fraction of retail. I would rather have a less expensive no name than a fake any day. I feel like I just waste money when I buy even costume jewelry.

I only have couple pieces. And people always! comment on them. It is kind of interesting. And probably one of the most commented pieces. The quality is totally different too. In a way, you can think what is difficult to make something look similar? I don't know, but the weight is different, the feel is different, and it looks different. I would not go for Yurman knock-off, to me it is just not worth it at all.
