Hello! I'm looking at purchasing my first luxury handbag in the next few months. I've done some research online as well as visited a few stores. My heart is set on the YSL Monogram Chain Wallet in the color Powder.

If anyone here owns this bag I would personally love to hear your experience with it! I love the versatility of the color and style, as well as the amount of card slots. I originally had my eyes on a Chanel bag in the light blue color, but I feel like this piece is more versatile and a much better introductory price point.

I'm not sure where I plan on purchasing the bag from as of yet. Right now I am leaning towards purchasing at Neiman Marcus as there was a sales associate who answered so many of my questions and was just incredibly helpful.

If you own this bag what is your overall opinion of the bag? Did it meet/fail/surpass your expectations? Any issues with the bag? Where did you buy it from? Any insight on your experiences would be incredibly helpful and greatly appreciated!

I have 4 ysl woc’s. However, i don’t have this specific color. I have lipstick fuschia, a metallic champagne, a patent black, & a glitter bag. I purchased my first two in 2016 & have used them numerous times & they look brand new. I purchased mine at a YSL boutique. A sales associate showed me that you can open the bag & unsnap the gold chain and use it for another bag, or if you have a ysl envelope wallet, you can turn it into a WOC.

That's so cool! That's also really interesting I had no idea. The sales associate I talked to suggested never removing the strap because overtime it would stretch/wear the leather. Have you noticed any such wear? Also, do you ever feel the need to match your jewelry to the hardware on the bag? I love the powder color because I think it's the perfect neutral, but I find myself mostly only reaching for silver jewelry and the bag has gold hardware. Would it come across as tacky to clash in this way? Or is it not really noticeable?

I have this WOC in this exact color combo. I bought it at the YSL boutique at Crystals in Las Vegas. I tend to wear it during warmer months at night with lighter or brighter colors. I was actually after the more pink shade with GHW, but that wasn't available so I chose this color based on the HW. I think you can get away with wearing silver jewelry with it.

I’ve only removed the chain once. I opened up my regular wallet and wrapped the chain around the inside & snapped the wallet closed & wore it as its own woc. I usually match jewelry to the hardware but i think its fine since the bag is neutral in color. The las vegas crystals location has amazing customer service, i purchased some of my first items from them.

I would say definitely get it. The YSL WOC in my opinion is way worth it than the Chanel WOC because of its price point and it’s versatility (can be worn 4 ways). It’s also both classy and stylish. If you are looking to get a little bit of a discount, try purchasing it on the Harrods or Selfridges website. I got mine for about $200 off and that was including a $30 shipping fee.
