1) TRIBUTE: Patent or Smooth Leather?
I’m sure many of you have both, trying to decide which is better between the two.

2) If you have to pick one, would you go with Tribute (low heel) or Rockstud (kitten heel) in term of comfort?

I’m having a very difficult time deciding which to invest on… Would be my very first pair of nice heels and I would very much like for it to be comfortable as well.
Your input is greatly appreciated! Tyvmia. ♡

For the YSL tributes, the high heel is about 5 inches and the low heel is about 4 inches. Both of them, relatively high compared to other brands of heels.
While a kitten heel is very low, probably 1- 1.5 inches.
Patent is quite stiff and will not stretch much. It's generally less comfortable than smooth leather. But smooth leather is much easier to get scuffed, especially with shoes, they just tend to get beat up being on the ground and everything.

As a longtime wearer of YSL heels, I will say:
1) They are made for narrow feet (most people need to go up half or full size)
2) They are for experienced wearers. (As in, most people find them uncomfortable and difficult to walk in)

I used to have a pair of Tributes but ended up selling them. I have heard that they are one of the more comfortable heels for people to wear due to the platform, but I actually realized that I can't do platform heels. It's just the way I walk, I'm likely to slip in them.

I have never owned a pair of rockstuds however, I have heard many good things about them. Regardless of height it appears they are generally comfortable.
And a kitten heel is a walk in the park compared to higher heel heights.

If you can go and try them on, I highly recommend.

(In terms of what I would choose? Neither. Sorry. I don't like tributes and rockstuds aren't my aesthetic.)

The only Valentino footwear i have are a couple pairs of boots so I can't speak to the rockstud kitten heels but I do have 2 pairs tribute sandals - one the highest heel and the other the lower heel which is still high (especially compared to kitten heel as @lill_canele pointed out).

Personally, I find a big difference between how easy it is to walk in the lower pair, even though only about an inch difference in height. For what it's worth, the tribute wedges are the most amazingly comfortable wedges and so easy to walk in, you could practically run!

I have both tribs and RS, both in many iterations and heights, no kitten though, only high heels. i adore tribs, and primarily wear the sandal espadrilles in summer. as for the heeled version, i own both both smooth and patent. smooth is more classic and elegant, but patent i worry less if raining.

rs i have almost all versions of the sandal, and closed toe 100mm heeled versions and love valentino shoes.

are you asking about closed toe rs vs trib sandals? pics would he helpful for reference so we can best advise.

I find rickstuds kitten heels uncomfortable compared to their high heels, these I used to wear often.

Tributes are more comfortable but the platform can be tricky for some people.

None of them I would call very comfortable shoes and I’m the high heels fan. But to each their own and it’s always better to try them on before buying. I hope it helps.

I don’t know how I’m only seeing this now… Wow. Thank you! Ended up with patent Tribute. Super comfortable. Tbo I wanted to love (read - be able to wear) the Rockstud but it was too narrow for me. *sob* Next time I’m in the market for shoes I think I will try the espadrille. Hopefully those won’t be too narrow for my feet. ♡
