I have to agree with ect. instead of etc. Whenever I see it, I think, what is it short for - ectoplasm? We all make mistakes from time to time, and I seem to be getting worse with age! Something weird I have noticed in my students' work is a tendency to separate compound words, such as overseas--two students just turned in papers that said over seas.
I also agree with the droll poster who skips over posts that have no punctuation. I can't even read those.
I dislike the misuse of the word nauseous. Nausea is the effect something has on other people. I feel nauseated when people say "I'm nauseous," because they have that affect on me!
Thanks for this post--it's fun to get this off my chest, and great to find people who agree!
