With everything getting so much more expensive these days, I reflected on many of my past purchases. I looked at my shoe collection (which is not huge), and realized how much money I had wasted. I am not a heels person. Most of my shoes are flats because that's what works for me.

I finally came to the realization that...
My $200-something sneakers and less than $200 flats are more comfortable than my $700-something high-end flats. No more patent leather flats for me. I'll be selling two pairs of high-end flats to a consignment store.

Question: Are your most expensive shoes really the most comfortable ones? What is your most comfortable pair of shoes? (let's not count slippers or shoes for special occasions - I mean everyday shoes that you wear regularly).

wearing them right now....Born boots...so comfortable I bought a backup pair
I don't have any $700 shoes but I do have some that cost a lot more than these (I got both pair at a discounted price)

I will say my Gucci trainers are one of my most comfortable pairs of shoes and I wear them constantly - so cost per wear is totally worth it on those!
Would love if anyone can share if they have an all day comfortable pair of heels, but boots wise I found Senso boots extremely comfortable which are a mid price point! Also DMs always.
I’ll mainly tend to go for leather shoes from high street shops as would rather buy super special handbags :)

Boots from La Canadienne and flats/trainers from Cocorose. I have small feet, narrow heels so it's a challenge to find shoes that are both comfy and fit me well.

I'd rather spend a bit more on bags too!

Do "comfortable" and "heels" co-exist in the same sentence ? The comfort of the heels would very much depend on the heel height. I only have 2 pairs of heels - one black pair of kitten heels from Jimmy Choo and one nude pair of mid-heels from LK Benette. I don't wear either of them to work on a regular basis. My go-to office shoes are my loafers and sneakers.

I learned my lesson. I'll only buy flats in Nappa leather, no more patent leather.

Hahaha, I love high heels and for the most part, I’m willing to suffer :P .

And I think almost all my shoes are designer so for the most expensive ones…well, they’re probably my Hermes Saint Germain boots in the higher heel (2.8 in I think). I personally find them very comfortable but my SA told me that most people found them to be a little high/tall.

So, yes? But I’m also very used to wearing heels (3-4 inches) and have a relatively high threshold for shoe discomfort and pain.

Oh to answer my most comfortable pair of shoes…hmm, probably my adidas superstars, but I only wear those with scrubs.

I used to buy heels in my 20s. I haven't bought any heels in years. I carry a backpack full of stuff to work, so wearing heels is not a practical choice. In my personal life, I don't have fancy events to go to. My commute to work is long. By the end of the workday, I am extremely tired. I have no more energy on the weekends. Wearing heels to torture my feet is the last thing I want to do. Lol.

Love heels but hate the pain.
I used to love Sam Edelman flats but they wore out too fast and the last few pairs just didn't fit & gave me blisters.
Still searching for those comfy flats.
I find loafers more comfortable but not great looking for my wide feet.

I can definitely see why carrying a full backpack does not work for heels.
We're fortunately that everything is at work and technically we don't need to bring anything in. (some of us don't bring a bag at all)
I just bring a tote because I'm used to it, but it really don't have much in it. The heaviest thing is probably my tote bag organizer itself lol.
My boss and I sometimes bring flats to change into. Especially if we know it's going to be a desk-job sort of day. We just switch our heels for flats at our desk, and change into heels when going to meetings etc.
And of course, always have a spare pair of sneakers in the car, because you never know!

I bought a lot of AGL shoes in their heyday around 10 years ago, they have very soft leather and are very comfortable. Some are pretty worn out but many of them I still wear. I have a few of their low heels too, also very comfortable and feel similar to the flats. Retail in the $300s, I always bought on sale, usually about $100-200.

Ecco is a very comfortable and reasonably priced brand, I have a pair of flat knee high boots and a pair of lower patent pumps, both very comfortable for all day. I have a couple flats and another heel, they aren't bad but not as comfortable as the boots and patent pumps. I bought all of these at an Ecco outlet, all $50 or less but I haven't shopped for Ecco in awhile so not sure if they still have deals that good.

In general I find flat boots comfortable. I also have some Western style boots from Target as well as a Madden Girl pair, all have a slight heel but easy to walk in all day.

Most sneakers are also comfortable for me, I have Converse, Dr. Scholls (glitter made to look like Golden Goose type), other no name brands. Sometimes the cheap ones have better padding!

Basically I do okay with most shoes as long as they aren't too high or thin heels, and they are soft and not stiff.

I wear converse low tops all year round, especially the lace-less ones. I know they don't have a lot of cushion but I still find them extremely comfortable for regular walking around - almost like being barefoot. I have WAY too many converse, high and low, but the high tops are a hassle to lace, so I tend not to wear them that often unless the outfit really needs them. I do wear them all though.

If I need to do more walking in the winter, I will turn to my Virgina-leather mid-calf doc martens. Soft leather, cushy soles, easy zip-up.

In warmer weather, I'm almost exclusively in sandals, flip flops, and converse. My favorite flip flops are by Rocket Dog and by Vionic.

The absolutely MOST comfortable sandals are made by Dansko. I have quite a few of their sandals and I do wear them all. Good quality leather and they're made for comfort. Some of their styles are a little chunky because of the support that they put into the structure of the shoe, but some of the sandals do a good job of balancing comfort with cute. They make my most comfortable pair of heeled sandals also. I always get compliments when I wear them. I even have two pairs of their "nurse shoe" clogs that I got when I had a foot injury and my podiatrist recommended them. I still find the clogs comfortable but they are more difficult to style in a way that doesn't read as frumpy (especially at my age).

I have several pairs of shoes that I don't wear but that I can't get rid of. One pair of Steve Madden heels are so uncomfortable that when I wear them, they cut into my foot so badly that I almost can't walk within a few hours of wearing them. Still can't get rid of them.

My favorite dansko sandals (below). The picture is overexposed and doesn't show the shoes well but you get the point. Comfy and cute (imo anyway).

I have over 250 pair of shoes, but sadly i rarely wear my high heels and I have not bought a pair of heels since 2021. I used to wear them at work most days but after Covid happened I found myself in flats or sneakers everyday, working from home. I don't have a specific price point that I stick to. I have very small feet, EU 34 to 34.5 so it's hard for me to find shoes that I like the look of, and actually fit me properly. Usually high end and sporting brands cater for my size and aesthetic taste so my go to shoes these days include:

- Margaux NY ballet flats
- Adidas Gazelle and Campus sneakers
- Valentino Rockstud flats (not caged ones)
- Valentino Rockrunner sneakers
- Louis Vuitton Run Away Sneakers
- APL sneakers for exercise
- Gucci Princetown mules
