"San Dimas High School Football Rules" by The Ataris. Before we started dating, my boyfriend surprised me and put a CD with that song, a gold anklet with little hearts on it, a dozen red roses and a letter letting me know how much he liked me, all in my car so I saw it after I got off work one day  :shame:

Here are the lyrics, I think they're cute.

"San Dimas High School Football Rules"

Last night I had a dream that we went to Disneyland,
Went on all the rides, didn't have to wait in line.
I drove you to your house where we stared up at the stars
I listened to your heartbeat as I held you in my arms.

We hung out at the rainbow where we drank til' half past two.
Nothing could go wrong anytime that I'm with you.
Like crashing a hotel room or leading up to that first kiss
Or searching for a high school that you know doesn't exist...

These are the things that make me free
I feel like I'm stuck in "stand by me"
This night was too good to be true.

Today I woke up alone wishing you were here with me,
I wanted us to be something that we'd probably never be.
Today you called me up and said you'd see me at our show,
But now I'm stuck debating if I even wanna go.

Whitney, don't you understand that what I say is true?
I just want you to know I have a major crush on you.
I'd drive you to Las Vegas and do the things you wanna do
I'd even have Wayne Newton dedicate a song to you.

I only wish that this could be
Just dump your boyfriend and go out with me
I swear I'd treat you like a queen.

Amazed by Lonestar....got married at the JP but if I ever have a "real" wedding this will be our song!!btw..already been married 13 years so I don't know how likely the wedding is..:shame:

Well, the first song we danced to was "Losing My Religion" by REM. For our wedding our first dance was "At Last" sung by Etta James, so that's probably what would count as "our song". But if we'd been able to find a copy of "Life Is So Peculiar" by Louis Jordan, I think we would've danced to that one instead. It's got the right balance of romance and humor.

Here is Judy Torres' version of Faithfully... I still get choked up when I'm singing it thinking of my baby

"Highway run
Into the midnight sun
Wheels go round and round
You're on my mind
Restless hearts
Sleep alone tonight
I'm sendin' all my love
Along the wire

They say that the road
Ain't no place to start a family,
Right down the line
It's been you and me,
And lovin' somebody like me
Ain't always what it's supposed to be,
But you, you stand by me
I'm forever yours...faithfully...

Oh circus life
Under the big top world
We all need the clowns
To make us smile,
Through space and time
Always another show
Wondering where I am
Lost without you,

And being apart ain't easy
On this love affair,
Two strangers learn to fall in love again
and I'll get the joy
Of rediscovering you,
And you, you stand by me
I'm forever yours...faithfully...

**"Woah's" from Journey's version**

Faithfully, I'm still yours
I'm forever yours
(So faith, so faith, so faithful,
So faith, so faith, so faithful,
So faith, so faithfully) X2
Faithfully..."

Our wedding song: I Love the Way You Love Me" by: John Michael Montgomery, and then when I was just minutes from delivering our precious baby boy, my sweetie slipped in the CD and played it again for me.

Nat King Cole's "(I Love You) For Sentimental Reasons"...it's just our speed and definitely means what we wanted to express to each other when we got married.  Still makes me reminesce when I hear it. *heart pitter patters*

We have a couple. He's into punk and emo punk and he definitely broadened my musical horizons. The very first one is "Third Engine" by Saves The Day:

The sky grows bigger every day
And the other week I hopped on a train
Cutting through state lines
To come to you as the crow flies
And out there in there offing everything was melon and orange

Did you know, my sweet
That I once took the liberty of watching you in your sleep?
I rolled over and over
Trying to touch your knees underneath the sheets

And I just wanted you to know
that every pool of water reminds me of you
Is that all right?
I hope you think it's cool
'Cause sometimes a train can't go as fast as I want it to

Did you know, my sweet
That I once took the liberty of watching you in your sleep?
I rolled over and over
Trying to touch your knees underneath the sheets
Trying to touch your knees

Everything seemed a little easier
when we weren't one hundred miles apart
The person across from me
sitting in her train seat, reminded me of you
And I looked out past her cheeks
through the glass-light conduit
But the sun had sunk already
Disappeared into New Jersey
Oh, why don't they have phones on these things?

I grew up with my parents listening to oldies on the weekends. An oldie song of ours is "Close To You" by The Carpenters (some of you would know that).

The last one that we have is called "Nightingale" by Saves The Day:

And I will flail under these lights that seep down from the bitter sky tonight
and I will kick and beat my wrists together
and feel an ocean breathing waves, feel them licking at my face.
Ceilings don't exist and there are no floors beneath me.
If I were king of this night, would you become my queen?

And I hope, your majesty that you like your position.
I'll do everything I can to keep you by my side
and I'll stare off through the darkness to find us a kingdom.
Just kiss me before I go.

I'll have to walk a thousand miles just to find the ground deserving of your feet.
You could throw me down and walk on me
and I'd just look on through my love and through the haze.

And I hope, your majesty that you like your position.
I'll do everything I can to keep you by my side
and I'll stare off through the darkness to find us a kingdom.
Just kiss me before I go.

The nightingales are singing now.
They're calling out our marriage to our subjects on their knees.
Their jewelry is thrown into the air.
They sigh at their release as their shackles hit the ground.
The trumpets call out now.
We're home at last.

And I hope, your majesty that you like your position.
I'll do everything I can to keep you by my side
and I'll stare off through the darkness to find us a kingdom.
Just kiss me before I go.

This is also one of our "songs" My bf would play it in the car all the time when we'd get together. I love the lyrics.

Ok, so no sweetie for me at the moment, but I thought I'd post an inspirational song for all of us single gals. I like to keep Death Cab for Cutie's "I Will Follow You Into the Dark" in mind as I continue on my usually frustrating search for a good guy. I figure a girl's got to have a goal, and if I don't see the potential to feel the emotions expressed in that song for a guy, I know he's not the right one.
