I currently have a yellow sapphire as my e-ring. Hubby and I are looking to in the near future replace the sapphire with a yellow diamond. We wanted to see if we liked the look of the yellow, and we both love it, so now its time to upgrade!

My e-ring is almost 1.5 c. I am wondering where the best place to purchase a yellow diamond would be?

Should we go back to our jeweler and purchase one from him, or should we purchase one from somewhere else. Also we are a little naive in the jewelry world, what is the price range we are probably looking at spending?

We went into a local estate jeweler that just opened in our area and he had this beautiful ring.... it was 1.07 yellow diamond set in 18k white gold with a few very small diamonds on each side of the diamond... he was selling it for $2,500 which seemed way to inexpensive.:confused1: We debated purchasing it all day yesterday, but we decided the offer was too good to be true....

Any advice would be great! Thanks in advance!

HAve you thought of trying a gemesis stone?

We price the Gemesis Diamonds based on current industry standards for both colorless and color diamonds. If you compare a Gemesis Diamond to a comparable natural color diamond, you will find the Gemesis Diamond is on average one-third the price of a natural fancy-color diamond. We have even found that a Gemesis Diamond is typically less than a comparable colorless diamond.

It's a company that makes diamonds.

Fancy colored diamonds can be pretty expensive, but depend a lot on the shade you like. Vivid yellow will be much more than light yellow, which I prefer.

Take a look here- http://diamondsbylauren.com/

They sell tons of colored diamonds w/ lots of shade options.

Elizat - what a fantastic website - such beautiful pieces, and lots of gorgeous natural topaz - thanks for posting!!!

Courtneyh - good luck with your search - I am sure you will find the perfect stone!!

Check out Pricescope, there is a ton of info about diamonds there- so much that it can be a bit overwhelming. There are great posters and a bunch of experts willing to help though!

Thank you so much!

I just looked through a couple of pages of that website :faint: holy overwhelming, but beautiful jewelry and lots and lots of information!

Glad you all like the site! Such pretty things, right? It is one of my faves!

If I ever find that guy and go the diamond route for an e-ring and not just two bands or gemstone (like emerald), I want a yellow diamond!

Courtney, the good thing about pricescope and colored diamonds, is that they aren't the focus for most buyers. If you search the forum for yellow or colored diamonds, your thread results will be manageable. I actually found the jeweler I linked searching for yellow diamonds there one day!

i can vouch for diamonds by lauren. i know the owner personally and have bought quite a few pieces of jewelery from them. why go the route of a man-made stone when you can get the real thing?

That website is beyond helpful, its perfect! Like you said when I looked up yellow diamonds there was enough information to be beyond help but not to much it became overwhelming!

I always wanted something different too, like a gemstone of some sort and we really loved the look of yellow and at the time couldnt afford the yellow diamond, but hopefully in the near future we really want to look into purchasing one and then using my yellow saphire for something else!

Thanks so much! I showed DH the website and he thought it was perfect! So hopefully here in the near future we can purchase one!
