OP, i am from canada and ordered a pair of CLs from luisaviaroma.com last year. the price in Cdn $ is indeed much cheaper than US retail. however, despite free shipping, you will have to pay duties and taxes. i ended up paying close to 175$ Cdn in brokerage, duties and taxes on a pair of 4XX$ CLs. however, if you consider that in canada, the shoes i wanted were about 650$ Cdn before provincial sales tax & GST, i ended up saving, just not as significant a discount. if you buy them from a US store, the 595$US price does not include shipping costs, brokerage fees or duties/taxes either so you should take that into account too when you do your calculations to compare. HTH!!!

Wow -- this is great, considering the shoes I'm looking for my fiancee are $460 on the site, even with $175 in taxes, that's still $635 -- cheaper than buying from the US! :yahoo:

Anyone else have buying experiences from them? Or any other sites that offer similar prices on real CL's to Canada? Just trying to do my due diligence in unfamiliar territory! :p

Thanks in advance!

Fashion impaired boyfriend :D

p.s. in particular -- looking for silver Fifi's by CL or blue Manolo Hangisi's. ;)

One of my favorite sites! I've ordered clothes but no CL's -I'm in US & got killed with the custom fees but nice to be able to order things not available in US! :) Let us know how it works out!

^ I will! I was just hoping to try on the shoes before buying them but i highly doubt holts will have them! I'd buy them in a heartbeat if i knew they fit!!!

If anyone knows how the fifis fit, let me know... =)

I've bought clothes and Louboutins from LVR several times over the past 2-3 years, and I've been very happy with the service. Very efficient and helpful.

Hi materialgurl,

Finally a chance to pay back someone from this board for all their help!

We're in Toronto and my girlfriend is a US 6.5 and the 36.5 was TTS (true to size? Not sure if I got that acroynm right, but it did fit right). They had the silver Fifi in nude at David's. Apparently Holt Renfrew didn't buy this style this year. Please PM me if you have any questions or options as I've been researching the heck out of this myself.

Hope that helps! :D

Oh and thanks to everyone for their feedback on LVR -- the amazing thing is how cheap they are if you can ship to Europe. It seems almost too good to be true, so I wanted to check that they were legit and selling authentic goods. Thanks for giving me the peace of mind!

I may end up shipping the shoes to her aunt who is coming to visit and have her bring them. Even if she has to pay duty on them, the shoes are less than $500 when done that way. I think I'm about to become a big LVR fan! :yahoo:

Are there any drawbacks I'm missing here?

Thanks again everyone!!! :D

Nope. I bought a pair of current season Ann D boots from LVR last year... even after shipping and customs... I paid $899 for boots still retail at Barney's for $1295

I know!!!!Together with the weather, these are the two things that I HATE about Canada:pout:

The reason why the prices on that webiste are so cheap is that Canada is exempt from the VAT (which I guess, the GST or PST in EU...I was in Italy summer 2008 and did some shopping, with any non-EU-issued passport you would get 12% cash back from the government for every single receipt that exceeded 155 euros).

But still, the import duty is simply ridiculous!!!Grrrrrrrrr....
