I just noticed the other posted Wall Street Journal article about handbags and price increases. And now this one!

I never did follow "IT" bags...usually too expensive. I just go for comfortable with lots of outside pockets! :p

Thank you for posting this link. The WSJ usually posts handbag trend articles with some regularity, so it's always interesting to read. Here is the article that is cited inside the WSJ article--very interesting perspective on how society's expectations have influenced fashion, both in clothes and accessories...

The article above complained about fashion shows today being so short and boring, and told me to look up old fashion shows by Mugler to see how entertaining they could be. Here is one I found from 1997:

I'm not certain I agree with the article's seeming point--that the anti-it bag is simple, rather plain & non-descript.
I think a company must find its style. Once that's established, there's no need to copycat trends. Style endures.
This doesn't need to be plain or non-descript to attract those tired of "it" & momentary fashions.
But must be unique--in a way to draw customers, not to insult or embarrass them. To stand apart beautifully.
Better to be the metaphorical Joneses, than to fight to keep up with them. ;)
Just my thoughts.

Jesssh:I think the beauty of those haute couture shows is how they inspire an appreciation for fanciful extremes. We all need those, sometimes. :)

Thanks for sharing these.
