Ladies, this tarnishing on the hardware,would you buy this? Its less than retail for the price today, but over retail when it was released. Need opinions please.

I think the tarnishing is an easy fix. I used a tiny bit of toothpaste on a piece of cloth and rubbed it on my tarnished chanel CC lock and it looked brand new. There might be something better to use for tarnished chanel hardware. I would ask your SA before using any toothpaste. I was desperate

Depending on the cause and depth of tarnishing, it may not be repairable and may spread. It would bother me.

That’s my worry if will spread further. The turnlock has 3 spot of tarnishing.

Tarnishing is easily fixed by using a metal polishing cloth and buffing it. It’s okay to me.

It would be fine with me. I use Brasso for tarnishing of this kind. It does magic and the metal looks brand new. I used it for my 1993 Chanel classic and for Dior as well. They both turned out fine and the tarnish did not spread.

Understand that Chanel bags purchased after April 2021 (check ifthe bagis micro-chipped - it comes with a metal bar inside the bar) will be covered under warranty for 5 years and they cover specifically the hardware part of the bags. So you should be able to bring this bag to the Chanel boutique for repair /replace for free as long as the bag is covered under the time duration (within 5 years purchase from April 2021)

It’s from a reseller, and still with authenticity card, its the 21p caramel.not sure if it will be cover then.

If authenticity card, then may not be covered under the 5 year warranty as this warranty service only started for bags that are micro chipped

It looks weird. Like wear instead of tarnish. Maybe it’s just the angle of the pictures.
