Would you buy a bag just to sell it? - Lego Clutch

Hello everyone!

I have somewhat of a dilemma along with a general question.
First, the latter: Would you ever buy a bag- rare, highly coveted, or otherwise- simply to resell it at a higher price?
Second, the former: I found the highly coveted (and very expensive) Chanel plexiglass lego clutch at a local Chanel store. While I do normally like this model, it's slightly expensive for me to own, and this particular color is not quite to my liking (it's like highlighter yellow and with black CC's and squares at the sides). So, here's my dilemma: do I buy it so I can resell it at a higher price? Would that be unethical of me? Would it even be possible for me to resell it this way? Given the rarity of the product, do you think people would be willing to pay a little extra?

All opinions, advice, and comments are appreciated!

Personally I wouldn't do it. Chances are you get that one bag that doesn't resell higher and then you're stuck with it. If you're buying something to sell on later, at least make sure it's something you love yourself so that it doesn't hurt if you can't sell it (quick).

I personally wouldn't do it. Not many demanding for such collection, it would be hard to sell. If you want to be a reseller, then invest something in basic like classic flap in black or beige. I only sell my personal high-end belonging that I no longer use or downsize my collection. I never make money on them, but I enjoy when I used them.

Absolutely not, I don't usually sell my bags. If I do, it's through consignment, at much lower prices than original. I also don't like buying preowned bags at prices higher than those at the store.

i don't think it's a good idea.... for all the reasons the lovely ladies have said here already, it's a lot of trouble, and what if it suddenly doesn't sell, or you get a crazy buyer or who knows what else.... i just think it's a big risk. i've sold lots of bags from my collection (mostly thru consignment) for some i even got a profit - which was a nice surprise, but i wasn't expecting it at all - it's just tricky with fees (ebay or consignment)...

No, I would not buy a bag to resell it.

Nope, definitely not. It's difficult to anticipate the demand for this collection, and it seem more likely than not that you'll be stuck with a bag you don't love!
I will not pay more than retail for a bag. Better not take the risk..

The only way you could potentially make a profit on this bag is to hold on to it for many, many years and then sell it at a specialist auction. It would most likely be purchased by a collector. The three main auction houses all have handbag auctions annually. Aside from that option, if you are looking to make an immediate profit, I would purchase a classic flap, ideally a single flap one, as the resell market on them is quite good globally.

I would not buy a bag to resell it. Ebay is such a headache, and by selling to a consignor (i.e malleries, yoogis, etc.) you lose more as they take a higher percentage.

I can understand where you're coming from as the LEGO clutch has been going for 7-10k resell, but the colorway you're referring to could be less popular.

As an antique collector there's motto we all use. Don't buy something you are planning to sell in the future unless you love the item. Chances are good that you may live with the thing for a long, long time.

I am with everyone here: I also don't resell bags... I've never even sold one of my pre-owned Chanels before... I think that with something so expensive, it's not worth the risk. I'd be worried that you'd sell it to someone on eBay who would complain and then you'd have it shipped back and you'd have to list it again, etc ... The resale market can be a nightmare, I'd imagine!
