Worth appraising?

Hi. I just recieved a pair of diamond earrings from my mother. She bought them over 15+ years ago for $2K. They're round, 1 carat total weight and 14k setting.

What do you think? This is more for insurance purposes. TIA!

If you plan on insuring them, the insurance company will either add them at the stated amount (2k which I would not recommend in case they are worth more) or they will require you to get an appraisal from a certified gemologist. I would do it. It may cost you $35-50.00 for the appraisal.

Thanks ladies. I'll go ahead with the appraisal. I looked online last night at e-tailers and think she possibly might have been overcharged years ago. Better to be safe than sorry.
