Worst Coach mishap/accident?

I have two parrots who developed a taste for vintage Coach! The smaller conure was so sneaky and quiet that I usually wouldn't catch her until she'd already taken some chunks out of the leather. The Umbrella cockatoo started out with handbags and has now graduated to chewing my leather couch . . . yay! As long as she's not going for Coach! (and I'm only partially kidding, LOL). I can buy and make them all the leather toys I want, but they'd still prefer my beloved purses. :cursing: It's awful, and I've promised my purses that it will never, ever happen again!!!

OH YAH- cockatoos and african greys are notorious chewers of leather and wood and yes, like children, they want what they can't have. My grandmother is a breeder and I have grown up with birds my whole life so I know all about having things ruined by those devilish creatures! Luckily, no Coach bags.

I always keep my purse in between my nightstand and bed. I had a can of Dr.Pepper on the night stand that was half full. In the morning when my boy friend made the bed the comforter got caught on the soda can. I ended up with a can of dp in my penelope. the only thing that got ruined was my car payment book. I was surprised at how easy the lining was to clean.

*Raises hand* I'm the one with the hungry dog chewing the pull tab. :shame: It worked out great for me though since my SA's exchanged it for a new bag. I feel ashamed to say that too. I mean, my SA's are just so sweet, and ultimately it was my fault the dog got to the bag. I really didn't deserve a new bag.

So here's a plug for them. If you're ever in San Antonio, go check out the Coach boutique at North Star Mall. It's right near the airport so no excuses!

Well if it makes you feel any better, I was looking at Coach's financial information (annual statement for 2008) and they have a 75% profit margin! That's nuts...so a few returns aren't going to hurt them. I think it is great that they have such good customer service but wish it was more consistent. My SA's are great too.

I spilled red wine all over my suede signature soho hobo in college! I took it to a leather repair shop and they sold me a couple different cleaners which did a pretty good job! I continued to beat that bag to death for a couple years after that and it's not even visible anymore.

That would have SUCKED! I bet you played it back in your head kicking yourself....well, at least I would have. That's impressive that it cleaned so well

Well, I might be in the mist on a mishap my self.... I just got a wonderful new to me Rose Legacy shoulder bag and I was cleaning out a small dirt spot on the inside of the front pocket with some oxi-spray, but noticed some of the spray got on the leather and left a dark spot the size of a dime....UGH...heart sick...I am hoping it will dry out as it is on the FRONT of the bag and completely noticable.........I will update later b ut I am not sure if the results will be favorable and oxi clean is not recommended for leather...ugh, I don't even want to think about it.

Well lets see the first time there was a coach accident was with an older heritage stripe bag and I had left the bag by the door and there was one of those automatic sprays there for the house and it sprayed the bag all night long, well the bottom of the purse in the corner was pretty bad but I tryed so many things on it and after a long while it dryed to the point where you cant really see it unless u know its there, thank goodness. Another horror story was with the Penelope op art shopper in lilac, first time I took it out and we were eating at Olive Garden, the bag even had its own seat but some how food got spilt on it and theres a stain on the leather that goes around the bag at the bottom. Its still there after everything I tryed on it but not too bad once again unless you know its there. I dont know whether it was the waitress which was horrible anyways or someone else at the table. I was just so ticked off that it was the first time I wore it out and that happened. Atleast all the accidents that happened I could still use the bags and still do, no one ever notices but still annoying!

I was traveling on business and sat my Coach Soho in deicing salt it was on the floor of the aircraft melted. Oh my the results were horrible days later it was huge white salt spots on the bottom of my handbag. I remember freaking out and contacting a leather specialist. The leather specialist advised me how to remove the salt stains over a period of time it was removed. What a relief my handbag looks great! BTW the melted deicing salt was in the carpeting must have been from a passenger or mechanic. Yes it was a very cold icy snowy long day traveling.

^^ :lolots: I forgot how much birds like to chew things! I had a cockatiel in college and that little girl chewed anything and everything. Her favorite was our mini blinds.

That little laughing icon is adorable!!! (sorry, I'm new here)

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the mini blinds . . . No blind is safe from a bird, but especially minis! Your cockatiel must have left the cutest little holes in them! I finally got cellular shades, or something similar to cellular shades, and have been safe so far, knock on bird-chewed wood.

That's really great that they exchanged your bag for you - you're so fortunate to have SA's like that!

You hit the nail right on the head - "devilish little creatures"! But I can't blame them, it's what makes a parrot a parrot. It's no exaggeration to say that I can slice up an 8 ft. long 2x4 and the 3 cockatoos will shred ALL OF IT in three days. But I digress . . .

I'm so glad that most everyone's experiences have worked out okay in the end. It speaks to the durability of Coach bags - and their devoted owners!

A few years ago I had a suede hobo (I can't remember her name), the suede on the shoulder piece started to unravel from the leather border. I took it Coach to see if they could repair her. They couldn't, I almost cried, but the SA gave me a store credit for the amount of the bag.

Most recently dark hair dye splashed on my pale yellow Parker Hippie, it's still there : (
