Workmanship

^^ Those are not defects. Stitches unraveling, leather discoloration - those are examples of defects. The bag pictured (really quite beautiful) is simply a product crafted by hand.

From what I can see, the leather is flawless, the stitching is straight and other than that... Nothing detracts from the beauty of the bag. That being said, if you're not going to enjoy it, best find an alternative solution.

Since your husband bought it for you, you should mention it to him. Considering how much a Kelly costs, he'll best advise you what you should do with it. If I remember correctly, you don't even like Hermes much.

I think the bag looks perfect! The sides being asymmetric really shows it's hand crafted. But the quality of leather is unbelievable.

The Kelly is a very rigid box, so the leather is thick and hard. You can't be too harsh on a pair of human hands to stitch together a perfectly symmetrical shape.

Honsetly I have to disagree with you. That level of insymetricality is *very* noticeable. To me it's not of a "charming *oh it's handcrafted*" level. MOst LV canvas are better levelled than that, we've had people returning LVs that was just as insymmetrical or less and that was because of the print which is even harder to get right. This is in the material itself and even though it might not be a "fault", it's certainly not anything I would keep. Hermes should display the highest level of craftmanship and this is not.

send it to me.
seriously, it is dreamy.
try buckling it with the "belts" in reverse & see if your eye views the symmetry differently.
stay aware, mindful of your dominant hand (righty or lefty) while positioning her. Be kind to her.
okay, it seems i need to go for a walk and get some oxygen in my brain!!!
Uh...by the way, ladies, the sun is shining today in case you needed a northeastern tri state weather report.
ang

I am going to Hermes bond street soon I will ask there leather specialist
when we last spoke she said production was down on previous years
If that hardware is bothering you ( and I think it may always) why not take it back have a word with them, they could perphaps put it right
its such a lot of money
I think the stitching of the older bags is better more tidy especially around the handle area
just my thought

I have to thank every lady for the heads up because I am interested to see what everyone would say about it. :flowers:

Exactly which is why if I am single I would have asked for a refund immediately but since I am married, I'll just have to put it in the storage room where my husband doesn't go in.;) Anyway it would be an interesting experiment to see whether I can resell it at a higher value (inflation adjusted) when I am an old hag, LOL.

While I'm not neurotically anal about my bags, I am very meticulous about the quality, as they're a bit too pricey to be disposable. My oldest bag has an E stamp, and the ones I have from subsequent years don't show any change in quality of workmanship - which is top notch for each and every bag, as well as other accessories I've purchased.

There may have been an influx of new craftsmen and women drafted to meet rising demand, but I'm not sure that necessarily means a drop in quality. Hermes prides itself on its strict quality controls, and that won't be going away any time soon.
