WOC Or Wallet or phone holder -Help please

Hi guys!
I am after a small bag that will hold my phone and card and lipstick just nice and carefree grab and go. I was after the YSL Cassandre phone holder but the black one is out of stock in my store and they only have the red and i am concerned about the size being too small. Now I love red but I really wanted black to go with everything. Screenshot_20221011_172127.jpg
I found the GABY large flap wallet which I like the look of with the lambskin and the small ysl logo but it doesn't have a strap .. from the forum I understand that a lot of people do insert chains and convert wallets or clutches to crossbody or shoulder but I have never done it and not sure if it will look OK and not weird/a faff to convert? 3rd option is the WOC small size this is more expensive than the others. My preference is probably GABY in terms of look and versatility as I can use it also as a wallet but my reserve is that it's a wallet and not a clutch/woc. Screenshot_20221011_172833.jpg

I’m a fan of the WOC. It has card slots so you don’t need a separate card holder plus it holds your phone and keys. I think it’s perfect for when you don’t need to carry much.

Thank you for your opinion. I do like the look of the WOC, I'm just really hesitant as I also like the thwo others for different reasons as I said the GABY attracts me for its lambskin and smaller logo .. the Woc for being more of a "normal" clutch/bag... and the phone holder for its super sleek simplicity... Will sleep on it and see what happens tomorrow. Hopefully others will give their opinions to help xx

I already have a ysl phone holder bag in black color. I think its a very nice and simple bag. you can bring your phone also a card holder and the price is good rather than another ysl bag .

As someone who just went through this EXACT dilemma…. I ended up getting a Balenciaga wallet that I converted to a crossbody - thread here: https://forum.purseblog.com/threads/money-wallet-what-fits.1053440/

The Gaby can quite easily be converted to a WOC using a conversion kit sold on Amazon or Etsy. But the main consideration is how often you want to use it this way and how much you will put inside. Once you put a phone into the gusseted compartment, it will increase the bulk a lot and make the wallet harder to close. Putting something thicker like a lipstick will make it really difficult. If both your phone and lipstick are thin and you won’t always be adding them, it’s totally doable.

Note that stretching the gussets and adding a chain to a wallet not designed for this will significantly increase the wear and tear on the wallet. Especially I’d be worried about the lambskin as it’s more delicate. Using a WOC conversion kit means the chain will be rubbing on the sides of the flap and it will get worn very quickly!

For me, it was the right thing because I got a great sale on a preloved wallet and I’m a crafty DIYer type who is happy to paint over imperfections and wear. And often I’m just using the wallet as a wallet inside a larger bag (not always as a WOC).

If you will be primarily using this as a WOC with phone and lipstick, I would suggest getting something made for this with proper width to hold these items. If none of the YSL options you’ve found so far are just right, keep looking until you find the one that fits the bill perfectly.

@foxgal thanks a lot for your reply! After changing my mind multiple times I decided to go with Gaby simply because that's the one I like the look of and I need a new long wallet anyway.. I was very tempted by the YSL wristlet (cheaper! And probably easier to convert) but too big for the look I want, as for the actual YSL WOC again, it is more of a mini "bag" and this is not what I am after.. I considered LV Felicie which I love but came back to GABY hhh
I rotate bags so this will be used as a wallet and sometimes crossbody or clutch if I want to go light!
You did a great job at DYIing your wallet! I am no DIY person when it comes to bags so will see what happens haha

It’s great too that you chose black; if there is any wear on the edges it is very easy to cover with some leather paint or Fiebings edge coat. Show us your wallet when it comes!

Thanks a lot for the link ! I actually just bought a felt insert that looks like it would fit with a separate chaine from another seller that appears to match the antique gold/bronze of the YSL. If this doesn't work, will look at the one you suggested as it looks like it would actually take less space! although not sure that gold chain would match..

Thank you for the suggestion. I did consider it particularly in view of the excellent price point, but ended-up getting the Gaby wallet which was the size I was after and I'm really happy with it as I am also using it as a wallet! Although I would say if one wants to put more than a phone then the clutch (cassandre flap pouch) is probably way better in terms of space! I have added it to my list! Will try and post a pic later of the Gaby if anyone is interested.
