Hi! I’m in the market for a new puffer/winter down jacket.

I currently have a Canada Goose and it is probably about four years old. I can still wear it, but the fabric is faded at the back. It will probably be my backup coat.

I love Moncler but cannot justify spending over $3,000 usd (I like styles like Khloe or Leersie). I like Herno from what I can see online, but the jackets don’t seem heavy enough for cold winters. I could be wrong. I definitely want to try them on, but it’ll be a long trek to the boutique.

Finally, I found one from Burberry for $1800 range. It is what I’m leaning towards, unless there is a brand with a similar look you all recommend.

Do you have any brands you like for winter down jackets that aren’t too bulky, but functional?

Would you consider Mackage? https://www.mackage.ca/collections/womens-downs-and-parkas

I have two down jackets and their customer service/after care has been great in my personal experience.

Not in the same tier as the brands already mentioned but I was in the market for a puffer vest and got the Super Puff from Aritzia and it far surpassed my expectations. The quality, features and fit/design are all top notch for the $200 price point.

They have many different designs in their Super Puff line including various parka length. And each style has multiple fabric options (matte, lacquer, high gloss, etc) and many color options in each fabric. For example, the short puffer jacket comes in, and I am not exaggerating, 52 different colors in the matte fabric alone.

This is the way. The Super Puff rules. I own eight of these in different colors and lengths. They're warmer than any of my other coats except actual mountaineering and polar expedition gear (I do a lot of arctic and Antarctic travel). (FWIW I own the Canada Goose Expedition and it's not that warm - and I tried it in Antarctica!; I also have the CG Mystique which is very warm but like a walking blanket).
I also get more compliments on the Super Puff than on any other coats.

if you are looking for a long parka I can also recommend this one from Woolrich although they have plenty of other puffer styles to consider.

I was watching the tv show Manifest and saw the lead character wearing this long black parka. I did some internet sleuthing and was able to figure out it was by Woolrich.

When I got it last year it was $900 and they had a black version with gold accents (zippers, snaps, etc). It’s now up to $1100. Looks like two of the colors are on sale for under $800. It’s basically a wearable sleeping bag.

Looks like Farfetch has the black with gold accents version.

I adored Mackage wool coats and never thought about their down jackets but thanks for mentioning this :) I swear by my 8+ year old TnA down jacket from Aritzia (super wind resistant, I've read reviews from people wearing them when Northern Lights spotting and no complaints). I was gifted a SAM puffer a few years ago and am now I fan. They're stylish, lightweight, warm and not wildly expensive.

I’d recommend checking out Mackage and Nobis. Both offer stylish, non-bulky down jackets that are still very warm and high quality. Moose Knuckles is also worth a look if you want something durable with a bit of edge. You're right that Herno can feel lighter, but their Laminar line is surprisingly warm. If you're leaning toward the Burberry, it’s a solid option style-wise. Just double-check the down fill and warmth rating to make sure it fits your winter needs. Moncler’s gorgeous, but I agree it’s hard to justify the $3K+ price tag.
