I just made my first scarf purchase on ebay. I'm trying to learn how to authenticate H scarves. My strategy is find an authentic scarf on the PF or somewhere online and compare it to the scarf for sale. Am I learning or is there more to this game?

I've also posted photos of a scarf that I recently purchase using photos from the internet.

I'm willing to learn this skill for future scarf purchases.

^^^I noticed that the resource has Hermes below the buckle on the left side, but the scarf that I purchased does not.....Is this an indication of a knockoff?

I am not interested in autentication since I buy only from the store, but I do need some ID-ing threads, where ladies discuss which scarf belongs to which master and the years of issue.

I purchased a couple of scarves on sale in NYC and would like to find out more about them. The easiest would be to upload pics, but I am challenged in that area and my grown kids are too busy to teach me.
I definitely know that one of them is Les Giraffe and most probably it is my favorite Dallet. But what is the year of issue?

There are a couple of online databases that are by no means comprehensive but are a good place to start if you know the name of the scarf you want to find out about:

http://www.hsci.hermesscarf.com/search.php

There's also a scarf thread in the reference section where you can ask questions about particular scarves. It's worth reading all the way through--kind of haphazard but lots of good information:

Thank you, Capulet.
In 2000-2002 I used to be a member of HSCI, but then due to circumstances I haven't visited them for years and forgot the site name and address whatsoever.
And the other link you provided is a gem.
Thanks a million

Regarding the one that sold on ebay, the scarf has issues obviously so I this leads me to believe that those things did not concern you as the buyer. Regarding authenticity the pictures are not very good but the hem looks like it is a machine hem, could be an attempt at a re hem job. But I also know that a lot of early counterfeit scarves have machine hems.

^^^Thank you for your observation, but I'm going to hope for the best. This was my first attempt to purchase a scarf on ebay, and I've received positive feedback from PF members. It was very inexpensive so I've gained a scarf, never the less.
