Will you ever purchase preloved? If not, what stops you from doing so?

Hi ladies,

I just want to start a thread discussing what motivates you to buy preloved things like bags and RTW? I come from the culture where if you purchase preloved or "second-hand" items, people will say it's because you cannot afford full-price items but still try to reach things that does not belong to you just to satisfy one's vanity. Even my husband doesn't understand this, and he subtly suggests me not to do so. I don't like this at all. I have a stable job and can afford things that I like (Hermes is a different story though, too expensive for me currently), but sometimes I still hop on preloved websites just to scan through the lists and see if I can encounter some goodies that I might miss in the past. Especially during COIVD time when you cannot go out and shop, it almost becomes a habit for me to check those preloved regularly.

Am I the only one that feel this way? What's your point of view on purchasing preloved?

Would appreciate any input or discussion :)

I’m only motivated to buy items that are pre-loved if they are from previous seasons and not in production anymore. It’s heartbreaking to fall in love with a bag that’s no longer made or a vintage style, so the only route is pre-loved. Having said that, I’ve only purchased pre-loved twice (Chanel and LV) from reputable sellers and it was for discontinued items that were in excellent condition. Everything else, I prefer to buy in store, even it it means having to be patient by being on waitlists at multiple stores or checking in with my SAs to see if my wishlist is in stock. I much prefer buying new and won’t go the pre-loved route for a bag that I know will eventually come into stores. It does require some stalking but the hunt is half the fun!
