Will you buy a Chanel bag that has been sitting in the store for 1 year?

I saw an orange/red Chanel boy bag (tag said the color is called "rouge), but it has a serial code of 28XXXXX. The SA said it is from 2019. I saw the new price tag on top of the old price tag. (The bag went through 1 price increase already). I can't believe the bag has been in the store for so long and no one buys it. I checked the bag carefully and there are no flaws, but the plastic on the front of the bag has been peeled off except for the hardware in the side with the word "Chanel" on it. Will you buy a bag that has been sitting in the store for so long? This means no one wants the bag and it may be hard for me to resell it one day. Should I wait for the new collection to see if they have a better orange color bag? Does anyone know where I can find more pictures of the color?

If you love the bag, will use it, and the bag is in new condition those are the only things I think about when buying a bag. My so black reissue was found in the boutique over a year old and I had no doubts when buying it. I had the choice of a brand new one that just arrived and still choice the year old bag. It never crossed my mind about reselling. There are sometimes bags in the back that get forgotten about.

Honestly, it could have been that it was in the back and they happen to find it. It happens often especially this time of the year where the stock is low after the holidays. It ends up being a major score for alot of people. There's a recent thread where a girl found one from 2018 that it was left in the very back and it was a gorgeous score.

I scored one of my holy grail purses in Paris like that. It was sold out in the US and when I went to Rue Cambon 31, they said it was sold out in all of Europe too but then the SA went to the back to give me something else and he found it in the very very back.

Orange is also a very specific taste. It's not like black where everyone tries to get their hands on. Im adding an orange o case that I know others would not buy but it's cute to me.
But that's the fun of it all. If we all have the same taste and style, the world would be very boring.

If the bag is without flaws and it’s in the exact color combination (color shade and hardware color) I will not hesitate to get it. Since bags are not perishable items, it doesn’t matter how long it’s been sitting on the shelf. Instead of having FOMO, I would get the bag that I like. Who knows if the next orange that comes out will be the one that you want. And the price could increase again by the time the next orange shade comes out again since we know that the same color doesn’t come out every season except for classic colors like black.

I also scored my HG bag like this. I bought a 2017 in 2019! It had one ot two price increases- and i would buy it again. Mine was in perfect condition- it had literally been left in the back of the cupboard! With Chanel, once they are gone, they are GONE! So if you love the colour (I LOVE orange- and this is a perfect orange), you love the hardware (the silver looks incredibly sharp IMO), and the condition is 100%, I would say get it. I will also say, I think you can waer this in winter and summer. It looks rich enough in colour against your black clothes, and it would super pretty against summer denim and summer colours. I think it is a score!!
And how nice to have something that not everybody else has :)

Congrats on your new boy bag! I recently bought a 19B small boy bag from the boutique as well! The color of my bag is called rose.

Thank you! I live in the US, I think it might be due to the pandemic, most boutiques have been closed temporary for quite a few months. Hence the inventory is sold a bit slower in store and we may find some bags from previous seasons. That’s my guess.

From my memory, I think I’ve seen people describe 19B red as a bit similar to tomato red? I think your bag has a bit of tomato red tone.

Thanks! Tomato red is a good way to describe it. It has orange in it, but it is actually a red color in indoor light. I did a search in the forum of the color.
