Will they ship internationally?

Hi!
I am new in the H world and would like to start by buying a belt and a silk scarf first :D. There is no H store in my country :graucho: so I've searched the Hermes UK official website. I was wondering if its possible to place a phone order through them and have the items shipped. Has anyone tried this before? Does anyone know of a specific SA I should get in touch with?

Thanks!!!

Hi and welcome :smile1:

I do believe there are some store in the US that you can order over the phone and they will ship internationally, of course it is only small items like silks, small leather goods etc.

Right now my mind is not cooperating in remembering the tpf member with the SA information or the where the store is located... darn it! Hopefully someone else will chime in and help...

Another thing you can do is order from the hermes.com us site, and us a mailforwarder service like myus.com for example, I've done this myself and it works great. Bear in mind the extra fees of course.

Good luck!

Thanks baggiegirl for the info. Eventhough I regularly order things for US websites I've never tried a mailforworder before because I choose websites that ship to europe. But I think I'd better order from an EU country so that I don't pay extra fees. I've found a scarf I like from a reseller but since everyone keeps saying that it is important to develop a relationship with an SA to get to your dream bag I think it would be better to start doing that. Does anyone know of any european H stores that would take phone orders for smaller goods like scarves and belts and ship them to another european country?

Fashionpro, I have had success having items shipped from some US stores to non US addresses. I've also had items shipped from within Europe.

For the US, my first tip is to pick a not-so-busy H US store as they would have more time to accommodate these requests. I pick H boutiques in smaller cities.

Also I would suggest you be very specific about the items you are buying when you are placing your order. I had specific items in mind when I called, having read about the availability of these items on the Inventory thread. My guess is the SAs will probably not be as patient if someone (and I don't mean you but just in general....) is calling asking "what is available?".
When I called, I kind of got to the point and said "I would please like to order XXX, XXX, and I live in XXX and am willing to pay for intl shipping."

Note that they will only ship to your billing address so while Baggiegirl has had success with a mail forwarding service, in my experience, the US boutiques I dealt with made it very clear they would only ship to my card billing address.

I am under the impression (I could be wrong but this is my gut feel) that they are willing to ship if you order a few (i.e. at least 2-3) items. I am just not sure if they would ship internationally for one item.

Also, I sometimes get the feeling some H boutiques are willing to ship overseas if they feel comfortable with the buyer's location. One of my best friends asked for something to be shipped to her home in Prague and the same US SA (who had helped me previously send items to both London & Rome) was like "I'm sorry but I don't think we can ship there":confused1:

Good luck!

Just to clarify, I have only used the mailforwarder on online purchases from hermes.com in the us. Where shipping and billing addresses did not have to match.

I understand that phone orders directly from a store may be different :smile1:

I think what Leah meant is purchasing directly from the Hermes website since they offer online shopping for specific countries and they have scarves and a limited number of bags. So with a mailforwarder you may even buy from webistes that don't accept international billing addresses. I think it is possible to buy the goods you want through the forwarder and pay them instead of the store. I've never used this service before but I think that this is how it works.

The H UK webby says this: All items ordered via this website can only be delivered in the United Kingdom.

They will not ship internationally from their UK webby.

From my own experience, to buy off the US site you must have a credit card that has a US billing address in addition to having a US mailing address.

I've also tried buying from the Aussie site with a non-Aussie credit card, and the entire transaction was cancelled.
