Will eBay let me return when seller says no returns? Fake bag

@LucyOnLuxury I just wanted to say that I lost my mom suddenly last year and I know that absolutely everything is overwhelming right now. It all feels too much. I would cry if I burned toast....still do sometimes, tbh.
Put trust in eBay and PayPal, which both side with buyer 98% of the time, and try not to give this your brain/heart space, if you can. You will get your money back, and then you can look for a different mood lifter. This forum can help in so many ways if you are looking for another bag or anything pretty to help you smile. :flowers:
Thank you! Such a sweet message. I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you’ve been able to find some peace.

I returned an item with the label the seller issued (he picked the cheapest label possible and didn't insure) the item got lost in transit and despite showing that I returned it, I didn't buy the label, I used the one the seller provided, they argued that he didn't get the item back. I now really rather pay additionally if possible.
Thank you for the info. I called eBay. According to them, if I sent it with the label she sent, I didn’t need to add anything to it. I printed the label and took I directly to the post office and got a receipt for it. EBay said as long as tracking said a delivery to the address she provided is attempted, they consider the bag delivered. No one has to sign for it. I’ll see what happens in the next few days.

I guess it depends from country to country and they also seem to change their rules regularly or roll the dice when enforcing their rules. I don't tend to buy very expensive things on eBay and have the option to add a signed for thing for not a lot of money, so I rather spend a few pounds on that than spend ages chasing up and all the headache

I thought I would update. When I filed the request for return, the seller immediately accepted it and sent a return label. The bag was delivered on Saturday and I got a full refund back today. Thank you all again for all of your advice and support.

I had another one with "I didn't say it was authentic and I stated no returns", the pics were not stock photos (they are usually always bad news) but I guess the seller just nicked them somewhere, so I will have to play the waiting game and then poke eBay to send me the return label.

I've found a ring of Bulgarian sellers with fake Guccis. They have built their feedback numbers but "buying and selling" to and from each other.

Is your seller one of the following?

This is some of the information I've collected over the last few months:

From my notes:
fake Gucci accessories and buy and sell to and from each other. MANY shared feedbacks.

1. dipet9644 (62) https://www.ebay.com/usr/dipet9644
2. bogvas14 (75) https://www.ebay.com/usr/bogvas14

8. dimkadami (0) https://www.ebay.com/usr/dimkadami

ETA: BTW, there's a similar (but different sellers) ring of Bulgarian sellers with fake designer t-shirts.
Thanks for this. So glad I remembered this post. Came back to check to see if the sellers name is on this list and Lo and behold there it is. Almost got me. #3 is the seller in question.

If we all report them, maybe eBay will finally pull the listings? Atm YSL fake bags are literally all over the place, some look convincing (but heaven knows where they got the pictures from) but literally nobody will sell a a bag that is several K, new with tags for 100 buy now.

I haven’t received the bag yet, but there are a few red flags that the bag I’m getting is fake. It’s a Gucci tote that I paid $1200 for. It was directly withdrawn from my bank account through PayPal. First red flag: When buying, I always search for US only because I live in the US. I feel better if it comes from the US rather dealing with international shipping. She shipped the bag UPS and the listing said it was coming from New York. First, UPS said it would be here in 2 days, which was today. Today I log on to tracking, and it says its coming from Bulgaria and is now delayed. Second red flag: Another Buyer when leaving a review, said the bag she received was fake (two authentications). I didn’t look at the comments from over 6 months ago. Third red flag: she doesn’t allow returns, but at the bottom of the listing, she states that all of her bags are authentic and backed by a 100% money back guarantee. Fourth: there were 81 other bids on it. When I looked after the auction, all of the buds were private. I feel like she was bidding up the bag herself maybe?

When I receive the bag, I plan on having it authenticated. If it turns out to be a replica, what are the steps I take through eBay? Do I have any chance of getting my money back, and returning the bag to her? What if she never signs for it? Sorry...my Mom died last month and for some reason, my anxiety is through the roof. Thank you so much for any help you can give me.

I'm sorry for your losses (both of you). My mother died last year as well. My father died in 2017 so I spent half the year managing care for my Mom, who had cancer, and the other half working to settle the estate. Everyone thinks 2020 is so bad with Covid and all, but it's a cakewalk compared to 2019.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I think you're putting the cart before the horse but in the case of SNAD items (not as described), as long as you check the correct reason for your dispute, you should be fine.

Once a dispute is opened, the seller will either accept it and supply a return shipping label or if the seller doesn't respond within the timeframe ebay requires, you can escalate, asking ebay to step in.

When an item is returned, tracking will show if the seller refuses delivery, at which time, you can call ebay to have them look at the tracking. They will close the case in your favor and issue the refund.

Sellers can't get out of refunding by refusing the item.

Bumping this thread as I purchased what turns out to be a fake. I emailed the seller to ask for a return because I believe the bag to be fake, and the seller said I would have to reimburse shipping to me and pay for return shipping. Should I just file a SNAD instead, or agree to go along with the seller’s suggestion?

If it's fake you shouldn't have to pay anything. Are you sure it's a fake? I would not pay for shipping on returning an item that was not what it was supposed to be. This isn't a case of buyers remorse.

Before filing SNAD, verify that it's fake by posting on the appropriate "authenticate this" thread here, on the ebay community fashion board or you can pay for a professional authentication. (I don't think a purchase/professional is necessary unless you're unable to confirm inauthenticity free.)

Once you've confirmed that it's fake, open a SNAD case. Generally, it's recommended that you try to work it out with the seller prior to opening a dispute but since the seller already told you that she'd want you to pay shipping in both directions, I recommend you go directly to the SNAD route.

With SNAD, the seller has to pay for return shipping if she wants it back and once received, you're to get a full refund (including your original shipping) so you're made whole.

If the seller doesn't respond to the dispute within the timeframe ebay requires, you can escalate it and ebay will resolve it. You'll win the dispute and get a refund, either after returning it with a prepaid shipping label paid for by the seller or without sending back the fake.
