If you follow a couple of rules I think buying and selling on craigslist is great:

1. Do not make business transactions with your personal email address

2. Specify your preferences in your ad (or your response).

3. Remember it's only craigslist, so if people are rude, delete their emails

It's too bad that a few people ruin things like Craigslist for everyone else. I've gotten very lucky, and of the two things I've bought (all in the past three months) one was a vintage Chanel for an incredible price (yes, it's authentic, and currently with Chanel for restoration) and a ring that I paid $50 for, and when I had it appraised, came back valued at $500. I think you just have to be very careful in the way you deal with people,;ie., ALWAYS meet the buyer/seller in public places, and with a friend if possible, and always use cash.
