Why Sloane? Why Pyramid?

Yep, you're right. I kind of like the look of the flaps on the Sloan but today I saw a Noce Pyramid and if it didn't come in the Sloane I would get the Pyramid without hesitation. I don't find the Sloane any harder to get in and out of than a zipper. In fact you don't have to stop and unzip it so maybe the flaps are easier for me. :shrugs:

Ah hell, it's a crap shoot! ;)

I tried on a Pyramid on my shoulder today and it didn't feel much different than my Sloan. I had to squish it under my arm to flatten it out just like my Sloan. Sitting next to each other on the counter the Pyramid is a tad smaller than the Sloan.

The Pyramid I tried was Noce.....does anybody know if they made the Sloan in Noce?

^^Yes, they did make the Sloane in noce. I saw one in London earlier this year. My impression was that noce looks different in the nappa umbria bags than in the nappa--it seemed more variegated in the nappa umbria Sloane. I don't know if the noce Sloanes are still around, though--haven't checked lately.

To the OP: I think everyone has covered the topic already--it basically comes down to the size, the closure type, and the style of the rings. I currently own a Sloane and have compared the New Pyramid to Sloane side-by-side. They're both great bags, so it's just a matter of preference regarding the differences between the two bags. One person might hate the same feature that another person likes. Good luck deciding!

^^If you need more enabling, I know one our forum members has posted photos of her noce Sloane somewhere on here (I know, because I considered getting one, too, and I was very tempted when I finally made that first trip to a BV boutique).

ETA: oh, here it is! I hope she doesn't mind:

Ahhh yes.....I remember that photo. Very beautiful, oh so many BV's weighing on my mind..... :girlsigh: What's a girl to do?????? Anybody want to rob a bank with me??????

BL,
yes they do make sloanes in noce. i would think that they are still available. to me, noce looks just as nice in nappa umbria. the appearance is just slightly more matte and the leather strips abit fatter, but delicious nonetheless! at 1 point i was deciding between the noce and moro sloane and trust me, it was the most difficult decision in my life!

hope u snag your noce sloane soon! and count me in if you want to rob a bank!

Blueiris, thank you for your input. I have asked my friend to check these 2 styles for me since we have similar taste and lifestyle...so I will do more thinking and hopefully choose the bag of my dream.

Kroquet, Just wondering, what kind of Sloane is that? It doesn't look as deep as the new ones. Is it a flap closure? Also the handle is unique! - Never mind! Sorry! I just read the description.

It's a gorgeous bag and in wonderful condition. It has a spectacular drape and the interior is pristine looking. I know that LT Bag LAdy has one in Nero and I wonder if hers is the same leather. A Nero Sloane is really hard to find.

Just curious, the size is of width by height by depth I presume. Is the sloane really more than 2.5 inches smaller than the new pyramid in depth?

Sorry, just saw this & couldn't reply sooner. I actually just copied those from the BV website but I would say the previous sizes were (height x width x ???).

I did a random measurement last night and I for the life of me could not figure out what the third/last measurement stood for. Maybe the shoulder drop or the length of the handle??? I don't know. Mid-... when you say depth are you referring to the height or the base? The base of both bags are the same... roughly 5.5".

Lastly - on the Nero Sloane... the leather looks slightly different because it's made of nappa capri leather and not nappa umbria. I would say the former has more shine while the latter has more texture (more visible grains). But everything else is the same. Most (if not all) of the newer Sloanes come in nappa umbria.
