Why is Kelly so much harder to get than birkin?

^ Jyyanks, I think the Kelly hasn't reached the "mass level It bag popularity" of the Birkin but I fear it may get there eventually.

Leah - you're right that it really is dependent on many factors including location, first time buyer, etc. I guess I was just seeing a surge in interest for the Kelly which made me resurrect this thread. And Quelle is right, the Birkin has become very ubiquitous because of the fanfare associated with certain celebrities while the Kelly is still sort of "under the radar". I say that loosely because the Kelly has surged in popularity but it hasn't hit "mainstream popularity" the way the Birkin has.

Does a 1st time buyer have more or less chance of being offered a B or K? Please enlight me.

It really goes back to where you are, the stock that the store has and your SA. In some areas, B's are or popular, in others in the K. I find that it seems to be luck of the draw depending on what is available when you stop by the store and if the SA will sell it to you.
