So I was reading through the "What wallet is in your bag?" thread and it got me thinking. Many tell that you only own one wallet and only switch out whenever the old one breaks, others switch to match their current bag, some use a different wallet for different seasons...

I just switch out every 5-14 days according to what I'm feeling right then. I get bored easily. Since New Year's Eve I've been carrying my new Victoria's Secret continental leather wallet and won't be switching out any time soon.
Unless I go traveling, that's when I usually carry a card case and a coin purse. The same combo also happens when I carry a tiny bag, which has happened a lot lately.
Mostly, I switch wallets depending on where the wind comes from, really. :D

So, what's your pattern when it comes to wallets? Do you switch, how often and why does it happen? Pics of your wallet collections/favorites more than welcome! :smile1:

BONUS question: Do you have a special wallet for the holidays/Christmas time? If you do, please share!

Interesting questions.

My answers:
1) I switch to match bag carried. Not only wallet, but make up case.
A sickness with no cure, tragically. ;)
Have coordinated brand/leather/color sets. With repeats of same basic wallet style, because works for me.

2) I switch to clutch wallet with/without chain only, when needed.

3) I switch to travel.
Cheapy toss-away wallet don't care about losing. As theft decoy.

Bonus ?: Have been using oxblood wallet/case in new green handbag over holidays. Because no green wallet (omg!). Yet.
Has Christmasy vibe. :) Or, frog-in-a-blender vibe, depending on how warped is outlook. ;)

I only have two wallets. One is a smaller sized one that can go in any purse, particularly smaller ones. The other is a zip around with a detachable wristlet that can hold my phone. I usually have the larger wallet with me when I'm going out to lunch at work and it's just easier to grab that and go. But I do like the size of the smaller, compact wallet as I normally don't carry a ton of cards or cash around. Pics of my only wallets!

I don't know if I could ever own only one wallet, because one isn't enough for me. I now own technically two. Once I get a new bi-fold wallet, I'm looking to replace my old beat up bi-fold wallet.
Ideally, I would want at least three wallets. One large one; one bi-fold wallet; and one card holder.

When I do, I would then switch up depending on bag I am using. Or what I feel like if I need to carry lots of card and cash or be compact with my use. :smile1:

I had a few wallets until recently, but ended up selling most because I pretty much only use one: A small Tory Burch bifold that I carry in everything from my Mini Pashli to my large travel bags. If I go out in the evening and carry a clutch, I'll switch my essentials to a card holder.

I also own an Alexander Wang Fumo wristlet I bought with the idea of using as an everyday wallet that could easily transition to a nighttime clutch if necessary, but it's just been sitting in my closet. Maybe someday!

I also have 2 wallets right now. Both are continental long wallets, and both are genuine leather. The difference is one is thicker and the other is thinner.

I tend to favour the thicker one for everyday use, as it is easier to locate in my bigger bags, it is black in colour.

The other is smaller, and I bought it so that I can switch out the thicker one for smaller bags, I chose a golden yellow colour so that it adds a nice pop of colour in my smaller bags.

I will probably add a 3rd wallet: a much more compact one so that it is way easier to hold in my hand.

I have many wallets and pouches (in the double digits). Some more practical... some less so. Many wallets/SLGs purchased as smaller indulgences to satisfy my bag-lust and keep myself from buying another whole bag.

With this, I switch often - either for size of bag... or coordinate... or to use a bright color inside dark interior.

I also switch SLGs. It makes my stomach clench to see clashing bits and bobs inside my bag, so I change them. Not to be matchy by color or brand, but definitely to curate a mix of pieces that will make me smile when I see them together. Like matching undergarments to outfit. Nobody else knows, but it matters. Makes me so very happy :-)

Different wallets for different seasons.
Leather this time of year since it won't freeze and crack.
Something fun and disposable in summer that won't get damaged by sunblock or lotion.
Smaller wallets for travel, usually with a strap to attach to bag so it doesn't get lost.
Card case for parties or evenings out.

When I bought my beautiful red deerskin continental wallet I said it would be my forever wallet. I've been using it every day for the last few years. I still have one or two other wallets that are in good condition sitting the drawer but I don't switch.

My main wallet is the Chanel Zip pocket wallet. I switch according to what my activities will be. I usually downsize to more compact SLGs (card case, cles, pouches) when I travel. Or a cheaper brand when so I don't have to worry about theft, damage, etc. I spend half my free time with my kids on their activities (swimming, skiing, etc.) so carrying light is essential.

For Christmas or CNY, I always carry something red. I have a Valentino red accordion card case that I like to use.
