I agree - the bootie wearing person probably just forgot about them. I've forgotten that damn hairnet/cap thing more than I care to admit.
The idea that scrubs are sterile, or conversely, totally covered with invisible blood, poo and germs, is ridiculous. There have been recent studies that showed the most filthy, germ-riddled item of apparel is the male physician's tie. It never gets cleaned; it dangles in and on numerous disgusting things; it is front and center. Gross.
