Why are people LV-moderators?

I saw that they were looking for moderators for the LV forum.
It sounds great, but it also takes a lot of time so I was wondering why people do it. Just the fun, because you think it is important that people learn about bags or other reasons?
And I wondered what you have to do. Is it reading the treads and block them if people don't post by the rules?
I was just curious and I was wondering if it would be something for me.
