White Gold Vintage Alhambra Pendant — MOP vs Chalcedony

I’m caving and trying to decide between these two! I have some other pendants that are pave/have gemstones, so I want something more causal and toned down for everyday that match my diamond studs, without feeling like too much. Guilloche seems too redundant when I already have the pave, since they’re both so shiny (but I don’t know if it’s a better option or provides anything that the pave doesn’t really?)

Here, I tried on the white gold mother of pearl and the chalcedony! I think they look cute together, actually (oh no)
The chalcedony is a little bit more muted/dull than I was hoping for, but it’s beautiful up close and more durable. The MOP is, of course, less durable, but is truly neutral in color and shines very beautifully. I’m kind of torn!

Going to be completely honest, the chalcedony kind of gets lost on you. The mop glows against your skin. Of course it helps that the mop goes perfectly with your collar. I would consider what color clothing you wear and what might suit it best. But my vote is MOP.

Have to agree with @Swellgal thd chalcedony gets lost and looks meh on you; the mop glows beautifully

I like the mother of pearl on you. The nice glow is pretty against your skin and is a nice complement to your beautiful diamond studs.

I wouldn't worry about durability so much for a pendant. It does not receive the same kind of wear as rings and bracelets. Also keep in mind that buttons have been made of mother of pearl for a very long time and we don't worry about them nearly as much. Yes, MOP buttons are more delicate than plastic but, even without the benefit of a frame of gold, we just wear them without concern for longevity.

I like the MOP on you and personally don't care for the chalcedony on you (or at least this particular one). I say go for the MOP!

My MOP pendant was my first piece (bought in 2018) and still looks like new. As long as you don't shower with it or wear it to the beach/pool, you may be pleasantly surprised at how nice they can still look several years in. A ring or necklace in MOP requires more care because of all the hand washing, but not a pendant.

Again a vote for MOP (😅 and i am not a MOP gal …) ! But the chalcedony doesn’t pop on your skin. The MOP does. I still would try the WGGuilloche just to be sure it isn’t what you look for (not same glow as the paved IMO)
Otherwise if you are open to wait and pay the premium there would be the WG GMOP that I like very much …

I agree with everyone—MOP definitely looks much prettier on you. I've had the same pendant in YG since at least 2017, and it still looks like new. I always take it off before showering, though I’ve forgotten a couple of times and it held up fine. It’s not hard to maintain since nothing really touches it when it’s on your neck. I’d be more cautious with a MOP bracelet, but with the pendant, you should be totally fine. I also have the matching earrings, and they still look great too.

My thoughts align with what everyone else already said. Definitely the MOP in this case. It pops and looks especially good with the outfit you're wearing in photo.
