Where do you like to purchase earrings? I'm looking for classic ones (as in "will still want to wear them years from now"), preferably silver or white gold - yellow gold just does not go well with my skin tone :(
I have a few pairs but unfortunately silver often tarnishes super quickly.

I'm in my 20s and still in College but I do have some extra money that I would like to use to buy jewelry. However, I'm not looking to spend 4 digit sums on a pair of earrings at this point. Also my ears are sensitive to screw-back earrings so I want to avoid those, too.

I would love to hear some suggestions :) Thanks in advance everyone!

There are some sterling silver earrings that are called anti-tarnish that I believe have a special coating or something. I have the regular sterling silver earrings and just store them in an anti-tarnish jewelry box (this one has Jewel Guard) or you can buy anti-tarnish strips to put in your current jewelry box. Of course you'll want to put non tarnished jewelry in the jewelry box, so you'll want a silver polishing cloth (you can buy from Walmart jewelry department).

Gold is just so pricey, but when you are shopping for a classic pair that you'll like forever it can be worth spending the extra money. I recently got a very nice pair of gold oval hoops from Costco. I also buy jewelry from Sam's Club, QVC.com, HSN.com, JTV.com, and TJ Maxx. Have fun shopping!

I bought some very very cute ones that are classic looking and original at our local tous store. They run probably for about 125-150 for the plain silver ones and for about 200 + for the gold plated silver. So not very expensive.

I hate screw back ones too, so I got a very cute pair of post backs.

If you're looking for diamond studs you often get what you pay for but there are certainly good opinions well under $1k. Check out http://diamondstuds4less.com/. I suggest you go no lower than I1 clarity. I got a pair in white gold and was very pleased.

Re the screwbacks - if they don't work for your ears then perhaps a dangle/drop earring would be a good alternative. I mention that because I lost one of my diamond studs a few months ago (brushing my hair, my nail caught it, it flew off and I never found it). Since then have avoided post-backs so just be careful if you go with them!
