Am contemplating dipping my toe in to the world of CVA. Was going to go for the white gold Guilloche but am after reading here I’m now worried that the Guilloche is more fragile than the MOP or Charlcedony what do you ladies recommend?

That's good to know about the chalcedony! I have been kind of eyeing that and the WG guilloche as well.MOP is actually far more fragile than guilloche as it's not only soft, but also sensitive to moisture and your skin's pH, too much or too little or too acidic can cause it to lose its luster. I've even seen some brand new MOP pieces with minor bumps and scratches on them, that's just something you have to live with as MOP can't stay looking new for long especially when worn as a bracelet. They can replace the guilloche now if it gets too damaged/scratched up so if WG guilloche is what you really want, get it. I have the chalcedony and it's surprisingly hardwearing. I'm not the most careful person in the world, have banged the chalcedony quite hard against the wall and my office desk a few times, also taken a few showers with it on, so far not a single scratch and the stones still look as new.
I saw one in person about 6 weeks in San Francisco.I am wondering what is the current wait time for white gold guilloche single pendant necklace based on your current experiences or what you have heard. I just placed an order (paid 100%). SA mentioned estimate is about 4 weeks to months (that's a long range). It also sounded like it will be made to order for me. Just wondering if you have similar experiences to share. TIA!
Thanks. Are you referring to the Nieman Marcus location or the Geary street location?I saw one in person about 6 weeks in San Francisco.

In terms of mohs hardness, 18k gold with or without rhodium plating is around a 3, so technically guilloche is softer. But since it's gold the common issues are nicks and scratches, whereas stones can crack or break. When worn as a pendant, both guilloche or chalcedony will do just fine, but guilloche is certainly easier to clean since it can go in the ultrasonic cleaner.I love both pieces. They are different vibes though. Guilloche isn’t soft in my experience! VCAs all good pieces are pretty sturdy. Chalcedony is a 7 on the Mohs scale so I would say it’s definitely softer than the guilloche, but not so soft it would need to be babied on your wrist! I think you should get both, and just decide which one you want first or will get more current wear out of.
Very true. Exactly right in terms of risk. The potential damage to a WG guilloche bracelet comes mainly in the form of hairline scratches (which don’t bother me) but the potential damage to a stone is shrinkage, breakage, but that exists with any stone. Either way I think both bracelets would be a good choice for everyday! I wouldn’t recommend MOP though as that stone damages pretty easily in comparisonIn terms of mohs hardness, 18k gold with or without rhodium plating is around a 3, so technically guilloche is softer. I am looking to add a new vca piece and am considering the wg guilloche bracelet, the mop bracelet or the chalcedony bracelet. I already own the wg signature bracelet and the vintage wg mop pendant necklace. I would wear the bracelet on opposite wrist as my signature. I love the guilloche but am wondering if it’s too much white gold. Any advice?
The WG guilloche is blinding compared to stones but your eyes will get accustomed to it quickly. If you don’t mind scratches (even if worn alone, since bracelets are more prone to contact with other things) I think it’s a beautiful option. I love my chalcedony 5 motif because the stone is just so beautiful and ethereal. They’re just different looks and it’s a matter of preference.I am looking to add a new vca piece and am considering the wg guilloche bracelet, the mop bracelet or the chalcedony bracelet.
