You’re probably right.I'd go for the loafers. Espadrilles to me always look like summer shoes, even in black.
Yep, that's certainly true. I don't know what the weather is like where you live in the fall, but you really shouldn't wear espadrilles in the rain. Even a little bit of water, droplets and specs of dirt would pretty much ruin the rope on those shoes.I hear you can’t get the rope wet
I love how muted the branding is on the loafer.First because I don't like logo's.
With the ysl espadrille specifically? Or just that type of shoe?Loafer mainly because I’ve had issues with espi durability.

Thanks! I almost purchased a pair of sandal espadrilles from them during the Net-A-Porter sale.Nearly all espadrilles are produced by castañer under license. But yes not specifically YSL. The rope sole is very comfortable but isn’t particularly durable.

With the help of Yves Saint Laurent and other top designers, the Catalan company Castañer turned the traditional Spanish peasant shoe into a fashion statement.www.nytimes.com

Now that I know they create nearly all of them I may find a less expensive version just to try at some point.
Thanks!
Unfortunately, the Castaner pair that I own had sub-standard quality, the jute has loosen and end is sticking out. A tiny hole appearing on my toe area too.Nearly all espadrilles are produced by castañer under license. But yes not specifically YSL. The rope sole is very comfortable but isn’t particularly durable.

I’m sure designer quality is way better.
