Which Ring: Small Cartier JUC or Serpenti Viper?

Ooo tough choice.

I have both the small JUC ring in WG and the Bvlgari Serpenti Viper RG in a different version, half pave diamonds.

Though looking at price of the Bvlgari, that is definitely not the price I paid for back in 2018  . I think it was $2800 w/o tax.

1) Are you thinking of eventually getting both rings? Or just deciding between one or the other?
2) Have you tried them on in-store and taken photos?
3) Some people find the JUC a little uncomfortable and correct sizing is a must for it to not be too tight or too loose. The JUC can get caught on clothes sometimes though, just to be aware.

The Bvlgari verison that you're thinking of buying is a flexible piece. It will shift and move a little, which some people like because it makes it more comfortable. It can get a little messed up when it gets stretched out too much though. (happened to a friend of mine, but he's pretty heavy handed with his pieces.)

This is all such incredibly helpful information! I'm trying to imagine a flexible ring; so the scales are "jointed" in a way? Fascinating! I would be going to the store to try on both of these and then making a decision and will definitely pay extra attention to the comfort level of the JUC.

I'm thinking I would choose one now and then perhaps get the other later; however, once I try them on, I may fall in love with both. I can't believe you got a diamond version for that price just a few years ago! You bought when the timing was right. It's lovely to see someone else with a penchant for rose gold.

Your beautiful piece is now making me wonder whether I should look into the version that you have except without the diamonds. I am already a bit concerned that the coiled Viper I was considering might be a bit large for me to pull off as I tend to go for smaller pieces.

Yes, they are jointed and hollow (makes the ring lighter and more comfortable).

The Bvlgari B. Zero line, the ring, is a sort of a mechanism as well, it almost works like a spring so they will teach you how to put it on and take it off appropriately so that you don't stretch the ring out over time.

Something else to think about is because the JUC ring has a curved surface, it's less likely to see the scratches.

While the Viper pieces have all those flat sides that will also get scratches, but the scratches may look more noticeable or obvious.

But it's a matter of personal preference and whether scratches bother you or not. :P

Many of us on TPF have come to term with scratches on our fine jewelry and we're just happy to wear them and see them age with us as we age haha.

When I go home I'll take photos for you to see and compare.

You are so very kind! Thank you so much! I can't wait to see the comparison photos:-) Do you prefer one jewelry house over the other?

No problem!

Hmm, I do tend to prefer Cartier because I prefer a more neutral industrial look. (I have the most pieces from them.)

But I am pretty open to most brands. I have Tiffany, Chanel, Buccellati, and of course Bvlgari.
Part of the problem is access. I don’t like ordering, I only like going into a store to try on and buy.
So there are a couple that I’d love to get into but I’ll just have to wait till I travel or something lol.

Have a lot of fun trying jewelry in stores! Just enjoy trying on pieces and see how they look, especially with your daily pieces.

Agreed about wanting to try on in person, especially for rings! We live in Philadelphia, so near the King of Prussia mall; however, it's extra fun to pick up pieces from flagship stores when we visit NYC:-)

I’m also in the area. The people at both bulgari and cartier KOP are wonderful!

Back to the rings, I love the serpenti, but in this case, I prefer the Cartier. The serpenti has so much more presence with the diamonds whereas I believe the JUC can stand alone

Ah, neat! I made a purchase at the KOP Cartier about a year ago, and the SA was so kind and approachable. Glad that Bulgari had good people, too:smile:
Very good point about the plain gold Serpenti possibly not having enough presence. I will definitely keep that in mind! Thank you!
