Hi, so I am looking to get a new watch to wear everyday. I have a gold Rolex president with diamonds, which I feel is too dressy for daytime. I also want a silver tone as well. Im thinking of the Cartier tank, but I know nothing about the different styles. I went online and saw the "francaise" and the Solo. The Solo was $2950 and Francaise is 5k. They look very similiar, and I was wondering what is the real difference....I did notice the marker was blue on the Solo.....not sure how this will look IRL....any thoughts/opinions?....

thanks!

Hi! The main difference is the shape of the watch. The Tank Francaise is more square while the Solo is rectangular. I tried on both but the Tank Solo looked better on me. If you like smaller watches then the Tank Francaise might be what you are looking for. The tank solo in small is what I have and it is a good size, the large is really big. You might want to check out the Tank Anglaise which is quite similar to the Solo in terms of shape but costs much more in its price. I am sure the ladies here could tell you more about the differences between the Tanks.

The Solo is a good choice for an everyday watch - not many people realized it is a Cartier unlike the Rolex. Good luck in your decision. Can't wait to see what you decide:smile1:

thanks so much...I think Im leaning towards the Solo...so far, I dont see a huge difference in style between the Solo and Francaise.......Im going to go to Saks this weekend and try it on to see both IRL......I think i can get 10% off fromSaks as well....I want to stay at the 2-3k range for this watch, so I hope I like the Solo!

The Solo is a great watch. I'm saving for one! I agree with hja that the Solo is more rectangular and a perfect everyday watch. Let us know which one you choose, either one will be gorgeous!
