Personally, the 10x makes me shudder. Seeing so many wrinkles that close up is not on my list of favorite things to look at.
I think 10x is too much....almost distorted
I also need reading glasses. I have a magnifying mirror on my vanity (probably 5X) with a desk lamp pointed toward it for doing eye makeup

Hi everyone! Long time reader/lurker (since 2007!)...second time poster, first time in this forum.

I am in the same boat as you are with reading glasses. I had perfect vision until I hit 40 (I'm 47 now), and it all went downhill from there! I ordered several that I ultimately returned because they either weren't strong enough or the light wasn't good enough, and though I originally winced at the price, I can tell you that the Simplehuman model called the "8 inch Round Sensor Makeup Mirror Pro" is the one beauty item I absolutely cannot live without. The main part of the mirror has 5x magnification, and there's a small 10x magnification mirror that magnetically attaches to either middle front of the mirror or the back when it's not in use. I use the larger 5x part for face/skin products (foundation, blush, contour, highlight, etc) and switch to the 10x for my eyes and eyebrows, but then switch back to the 5x when I'm done to check for overall balance. It is seriously a game-changer and blows the less expensive mirrors I initially tried to get by with out of the water. The one negative is that I am now spoiled when I have to go without it and really struggle with putting on my makeup when I travel, for example. I have a travel sized Simplehuman that I bought to keep in my go-bag, and though it's pretty good, it can't match the "Pro" I keep at home. It's on sale right now for 33% off at Nordstrom if you give it a shot!:)

Arghhh.... I think magnifying mirror is just something you have to buy in person. You have to hold it (feel the weight) and see it (how big do you want your pores to look). So wait until it's safe to shop again. No real hurry.

yes, I got one from walmart for travel....it's handheld, not the kind you set on your vanity but it's fine for travel and of course it was very inexpensive

I second this recommendation.
Really nice set-up.

I recently purchased several magnifying mirrors from NordstromRack.com from Upper Canada Soaps and I've been very impressed. They have both hand mirrors and vanity mirrors in a wide range of magnifications and styles. Right now there are 25 different styles online. Hand mirrors are $10 and most of the vanity mirrors are $40. The vanity mirrors light up when you touch them. I tried to cut and paste some URLs but it appears NordstromRack.com won't let me do that. If you go to the web site and search for "Upper Canada Soaps" you'll find them.

Looking at Simple Human, but wondering if there are any good, less expensive options. Also, would you look for 5x or 10x magnification? I need reading glasses, if that helps. :-s
Just seen your post, so not sure if you have it sorted by now.

I have the simplehuman wide pro mirror which is normal with a small 10x magnification. It’s great but I had the other round simplehuman mirror before (husband broke it, don’t ask ). I miss the round one as it was 5x magification, but it’s bigger. The small 10x magnification is great for eyebrows or small things but I would prefer a larger sized mirror for doing make up. There is one that is trio mirror, 1x, 5x and 10x which is good.
