I would love to get a Bao Bao tote bag but I can't decide on the size - either small (Lucent) tote or larger (Prism) tote. Also both totes come in either glossy or matte-like material.

Which would you choose the larger or smaller, black or grey and glossy or matte?

For now I think I'd like to stick to either black or grey colors. Which of the bags below would you choose? Or do you think they are not nice at all.

I prefer the smaller Lucent tote in grey matte.
I nearly bought one a few years ago before the shop in the city closed down.
I loved the way it was made and the fact it was very light weight.

The Lucent matte (frost) grey was the first one I was drawn to, but then I saw all the other options and just couldn't decide. Yes, I love how light they are.

I have two Prism totes. I think the size is better for me. I found lucent tote is a bit too small.
I will actaully pick prism in grey matte.
I was initially going to go with the Lucent tote, but then I saw someone carrying the prism tote in glossy light blue. It was stunning!
What color are your prism totes?

Am I wrong? The top ones don't look like prism to me...prism has the three dimensional quality to it, unless I'm just not seeing it on my screen :confused1:

I have been looking at quite a few websites and online descriptions. It appears to me that the 10x10 tote is called the Prism – whether it is glossy, matte, frost, platinum or metallic.

The 6x6 seems to always be called the Lucent – no matter what material it is made out of – glossy, matte, frost, twill. There are so many materials.

So I took Prism and Lucent to refer to the sizing and number of squares.

The top 10x10 black glossy one is called a “Basic Prism Tote” in all my searches online. So it is a prism tote.
The grey 10x10 one is called a "Frost Prism tote" .

I think you might be referring to the “Prism metallic” totes – which have more dimension. According to a website that sells them, the prism metallic series consists of small triangles that give off a delicate shine like a jewel. The hues change depending on the viewing angle. They are a little more expensive than the basic prism tote because of this extra effect. I saw someone carrying this bag and it is quite stunning (two examples below).

Sorry, I was mixing up the prism bags with the platinum series.

No worries. I am in the process of sorting it all out myself. It was actually helpful. I see that the Platinum series is entirely separate and consists of 7x7, 8x8 and 10x10 totes - among other styles. The Platinum 10x10 tote is not called a Prism tote unlike all of the others.

The squares on the platinum bags are also three dimensional. The squares aren't flat, they have a raised surface and give the bag a completely different look.

Yes the Platinum series has squares that are much thicker and the coating is meant to impart a mirror-like finish.
I'm not a fan of these. Although some still call it a Platinum Prism - depending on website. But it is definitely a separate series. Too shiny for me.

I'm trying to find a bag I saw an Asian lady carrying in Nordstrom about a year or so ago. Pretty sure it was a platinum but as I remember it the surface of each triangle was "puffy" rather than flat. It was very cool, I wonder if it was a limited edition...?
