Hi ladies, I'm thinking about buying a Hamilton tote as a birthday present for myself next month, and wanted to ask your opinions on the colour + hardware combo.

What I'm considering are:

Black with silver hardware
Luggage with silver hardware
Luggage with gold hardware
Vanilla with silver hardware

I've been eyeing this bag for three (!!) years, and I originally fell in love with black + silver hardware, but since I already have a black Mulberry Bayswater (albeit with gold hardware) I think they might be a bit too similar in shape and size? I have a tiny collection of handbags, and would like some variety.

I don't have any tan-coloured bags yet, which is why I was thinking luggage might be a good choice, it's classic and would fit my wardrobe nicely. But then there's the hardware problem: I feel that luggage looks more beautiful paired with gold, but as all my bags have gold hardware I'd like to have something in silver too.

I also like the Mulberry Alexa in oak which could function as my "tan bag", in which case I'd probably like to have the Hamilton in Vanilla with silver hardware. This combo is absolutely gorgeus, but I'm afraid it would be a very delicate bag because it's soo light and not a good idea bacause I'm not used to babying my bags.

Ok, if you managed to finish reading my ramble, I'd like to hear which would you get if you were me? :D

If you eventually plan to get the Alexa then go for the Vanilla Hamilton! I have the outlet version Vanilla Hamilton (w/gold hardware) and let me tell you -I've used it just as I have any other bag. No babying! I am soo glad I got it because it's held up beautifully without acquiring any stains or color transfer.

My vote would either be black with silver hardware (would match with lots of things) or luggage with gold hardware (also match with tons of stuff and really gorgeous). Congrats on your decision to get a Hamilton and happy birthday! :)

Thank you all for your comments!

I vote for luggage with gold hardware. I have an MK bag in that combination, and it looks elegant and timeless. Luggage goes with everything and looks good in any season!

Luggage is definitely elegant and timeless, and possibly even more so with gold!

Luggage with silver! I love silver hardware I have a large luggage Hamilton and a small navy hamilton both with silver hardware.

Luggage with silver would probably be most versatile for me! The only thing I'm afraid is that silver would somehow look too "cold" next to the wasmish luggage colour. Do you have any pictures of yours? Navy + silver sounds beautiful! I have Tory Burch Revas in those colours, maybe I need a Hamilton to match :graucho:

I say luggage! As far as hardware, you cant go wrong with silver or gold but I think gold looks awesome w luggage color!!

I agree with you there, luggage with gold looks amazing!

Glad to hear that! I do wear a lot of jeans which is why I'm afraid of colour transfer but if Vanilla is holding up well then it's certainly one option. I'm not sure about the Alexa yet, it is a bit expensive and the quality of the leather can be dissappointing :nogood:

Thank you! :smile1: Both are good options, and who knows, maybe I'll get both once I get a taste of the Hamilton... I see from the Clubhouse -thread that this is the danger of buying them, you can't buy just one!

Remember to get the MK rain and stain repellant. It is very easy to use, and helps prevent color transfer.

Oh, thank you for the tip :smile1: Is it like specially designed for MK leathers? I have to do a little research on where to find it, we don't have MK shops in my country, and I doubt that the little boutique selling some Michael Kors bags in our town has MK leather care products.

I didn't realize you're in Europe. I went to the Michael Kors website and they ship internationally through net-a-porter.com. The rain and stain repellant is available in the US only on the Michael Kors website or at the boutiques. You might be able to order it through net-a-porter.com, or you might ask your boutique to order it through Michael Kors online. It really is a great product. It can be used on any MK item. Hope you can find it. The price is $10.00 US.

I coudn't find it at netaporter.com, but the customer service at the boutique is excellent so fingers crossed that they'd willing to order it for me! Thank you for recommending it, I'm going to ask them when I go pick up my Hamilton, hopefully in a week or so :smile1:

Model picture,I'm 5'4"

They are so pretty, lucky you to have both! I think I'm leaning towards the luggage with silver hardware, it looks beautiful there, but we'll see...
