Hi all,

I’m debating between vintage YG hammered or guilloche alhambra earrings. Please could I see as many pics of both as possible? Different lighting, skin tones, outfits. I keep going back and forth with which is right for me. Any tips on wear, scratching or dulling? What sort of tone is the gold, warmer or lighter yellow? I suit quite warm gold, either 18ct or I have 22ct tiny bee studs I wear a lot.
I can’t get to the store at the moment (attached is photo sent by kind SA) and the prices just went up, so I’m keen to go ahead before they do again. I just want to get it right!
I love statement earrings but also looking for something that can be elegant with just a jumper and jeans. I’m pale, warm-toned skin with light brown hair and blonde bits at the front lol. V visual so mod shots help a lot.
TIA

I own the hammered bracelet and LE holiday pendant. My vote is the guilloche earclips. Catches the light very well.

Ask your SA for mod shots. I always do :).

I was debating between the guilloche/pave and onyx/pave bracelet. I’m not near a boutique and relied on mods pics by my SA. Both were beautiful but in the end chose the wg pave/onyx combo to wear with my wg pave and lotus earclips.

The guilloche is more blingy and if that’s what you are going for, I’d get the guilloche.

I have the guilloche earrings and absolutely love them. The hammered are a bit too “mature looking” for me personally. I was concerned the guilloche might be too much for everyday but bc I have longer, dark brown hair they are a bit hidden and therefore work really well for both day and night.

Thanks so much. Would you feel comfortable sharing a pic? Don't have to show your face. I'm interested as my hair also hides most of my ears and earrings a lot of the time. Love the idea of something just quietly peeking out, in its fabulousness. I'm 31 so can't pull off some of the classics that older ladies can quite yet (there are some perks to ageing!).
Thanks

I prefer hammered matte gold color bc I think matte gold color is both richer and more subtle on my olive skintone. but I’m 53, so undoubtedly on the mature side. I also think the hammered is reminiscent of designs by Lalaounis or greek antiquities. However, I don’t have VCA Alhambra hammered gold earrings bc the vintage size single clover was not a good fit (I have a square jawed, wide face and chunky earlobes ;)

The matte yellow gold earrings I ended up choosing is a pair from Verdura Belperron called corne earrings (by Suzanne Belperron). Later this year or next year, I’m considering getting VCA buton d’or wg and yg earrings which are part shiny yellow gold. I preferred the buton d’ or to the matte yellow tiger eye carnelian two motif, but I’m not sure I can handle the buton d’ or weight. I included pics of the three to give you a sense of matte yellow golden color versus shiny. Of course, it also depends on the shape and scale of your face as well as your complexion, so it’s a very personal decision!

By the way, if you are not sure, I advise not rushing due to price increases and waiting until you can try on in person. I think if you try on in person, you will immediately know. JMO!

Forgot to add, I’ve seen threads that discuss the durability of hammered gold VCA, but that mainly applies to bracelets which would be subject to more wear and tear. It sounds like you are leaning towards the shiny, so don’t doubt your gut instincts. I just wanted to give you a different POV!

You’re absolutely right that akin tone matters a lot when choosing jewellery. Thank you for the detail. I love the 2 motif ones on you actually. I’m probably the opposite, warm, deep gold suits me.
Would love an original Suzanne Belperron piece one day, I love the cuffs she designed.

In your opinion then, is hammered bracelet not that durable??

I am older and bought the hammered ones many years ago. I love that they are understated but I also have the wg pave Alhambra when I do want more bling.
Go with guilloche for sure at your age and this point in time unless you have other bling earrings.

Are they the same size? They sort of look different size somehow ‍♀️ , I personally like both of them and the sheen of guilloche, however is the disc held together by prongs??
