Which Diamonds Would You Choose for Earrings?

I want to purchase some diamond studs and I have been looking on bluenile.ca (am in Canada)...which of these is a better deal? I am looking around 0.5 total carat wt, so 0.25 each ear (wish I could afford bigger, though!). Prices are listed in Canadian dollars and are for the 2 diamonds alone.

1) 0.52, ideal, H, SI2 - $705
2) 0.52, ideal, G, SI2 - $734
3) 0.52, ideal, I, VS2 - $750

That is the cheapest there is in my carat size range, except for a pair that is J colour and has mismatched clarities (VS2 and VS1), ideal cut, 0.52 carat and is $639.

Such a hard decision! I very much appreciate any opinions.

i would choose 2, because i am a little more sensitive to color than clarity. clarity wont matter that much when they are on your ears.

You won't see color in I colored IDEAL cut stones on your ears. I'd choose 3 if there's no SI1's available.

Thanks soooo much! Looks like #3 has the majority vote. That one was my first instinct as well. I was looking for SI1 to save costs, but they don't have any available right now that are within my price range. The SI1s they have are a high colour and so more expensive. Maybe I will keep looking!

Ok so now I'm seeing these:

0.5, ideal, G, SI1 - $745

Would these be better than the I, VS2. They are 0.5 instead of 0.52, but I wouldn't think that would make a big difference.

There is also these:

0.46, ideal, I, SI1 - $585

These are significantly cheaper so would be perfect for me, but would the 0.52 vs. 0.46 be much of a difference. Can you tell the difference between 0.26 and 0.23 on the ears?

Your last option of the SI1 and .46 would be fine - i have almost exactly the same (mine are .48) and the same colour and clarity and you cannot tell the difference from the new slightly bigger and better colour ones my Dad bought me in white gold instead of yellow gold. I always worry also that I am going to lose them, so i would say go the cheaper ones!

Thanks everyone. The last option I found seems to be reasonable for me: 0.46, ideal, I, SI1. I just hope the diamonds aren't way too tiny!

Now if only I could decide between 3 prong martini and 4 prong basket, as well as between white gold and platinum!!!!

I am leaning towards 4 prong basket. I don't know why. It just seems to speak to me from the pictures more. Maybe I need to go into an actual jewelry store and see what looks best in person before purchasing online. I would really prefer platinum, but probably going to go with white gold for cost reasons.

I'd go for 3 prong martinis in white gold. 3 prong because the stones aren't huge - you don't want too much metal.
