which chain around: maxi or large messenger?

hi! i'm undecided on these two gorgeous bags! which would you choose? i need one in black- i tried the maxi but it was very long and boxy on me. i haven't tried the large messenger yet but am also worried about the long strap and how practical it will be to use if i shorten it with the ribbon. let the voting/comments begin!! thanks for your help!!!

I think the title of this thread is theeeeee ongoing debate in more than a few PFers brains....including mine lol

Wish they would arrive in stores in the colors I'm craving so I can end this tug-of-war in my mind

if i got the messenger- i would def. double the strap. i wonder if the maxi chain could be shortened???

Maxi for sure!

While the messenger is really cute, the too-long chain length on all sizes is a turn-off for me.

Maxi for sure. altho u can double up the chain for the messenger, in time to come, the chain will "dig" into the sides of the flap that the leather will rub off.

I agree about the chains. It's pretty bag and fun, but I think the chains overpower the bag a little.
