I just purchased my engagement ring :yahoo:, .54 classic Tiffany setting and I need help deciding which w-band to get. I tried it on today with a half circle shared setting band. I wanted to try it on with the metro but they didn't have it in. Which would you ladies choose?

I chose the half circle, shared setting band to wear with my solitaire. My SA was discouraging me from getting the metro to wear with the solitaire as it is white gold. It is still very pretty and I had a hard time choosing between the two.

Thanks everyone for the input. Does anyone know how many mm the metro is, I know the shared setting band I am looking at is 2.2mm, just trying to determine the size difference. Also I'm not very knowledgeable about the difference between white gold and platinum can anyone give me some quick facts.

To me the metro looks more vintage for some reason, and the shared looks more substantial and more current.
I think I want to vote share prong because together with your classic solitaire they would look "cleaner" and more classic.

And white gold vs platinum, well tehy are just to different beasts. Intitially you won't see any differences at all as the white gold is rhodium plated. Where you will see differences is down the line. Platinum develops a patina...kind of a matte look. White gold stays shinier but as the rhodium wears off, the metal is less "white". There are many levels of white gold. Some show a tinge of yellow after a while. White gold can be rhodium plated every years or two to restore the shiney white look. Platinum can be polished to renew it's shiney look.
It's really personal preference. I like white gold better because it stays shiney. Other people like the patina of worn platinum, If your solitaire is platinum, I would stick with platinum so that they match over time.
Also people who are allergic to nickle can have trouble with white gold, or can develop an allergy over time. Most people don't, but it can happen.

I'd def go with the shared-setting half circle band. I love the metro but it is super thin and I've been warned by my SA that it's not a good choice for everyday wear because it's so thin. That being said, other SAs have told me otherwise. If the 3mm shared-setting band is within your budget, I'd recommend taking a look at that one as well -it's gorgeous! Congratulations!!!
