I’m choosing between these two bags and leaning towards the caro because I love the cannage.
Looking for a versatile evening/date bag
My first love was the medium lady Dior but I think it doesn’t really suit my lifestyle anymore

Caro!
I have a medium Caro in grey stone, and it definitely transitions seamlessly from day to evening. And in black - not a doubt in my mind that the caro is the right choice.

I personally am not a fan of the saddle bag, plus the shape seems very casual to me.

I also have a medium LD, and while it’s an absolutely stunning bag, I don’t reach for it much. The caro is much easier to use, given its shape, weight, and material.

Thanks! Good to know your experience with the caro!
My only thoughts on the caro are the quality control issues in a previous thread, and also the longevity of the styling/CD hardware compared as it will probably be discontinued at some point whereas the saddle is more likely to remain iconic?
Yeah I can imagine not reaching for the LD much- I feel like it’s a very elegant bag whereas I can see myself wearing the Caro more casually too!

Re: quality issues. I completely understand your hesitation - there are definitely some terrifying, eye opening threads on the forum. I actually had an issue with my Caro as well, but the replacement has been perfect. Are you looking at the macrocannage, or the standard cannage? My Caro is the macrocannage (same as the one that TraceySH had the issue with), and it’s definitely the more delicate one. I do think that the macrocannage will require a bit more babying than the regular cannage, and the saddle bag will probably be the most hardy of the three.

As far as style longevity goes - maybe I’m fooling myself, but I think it’s a pretty classic flap bag. There’s nothing super trendy about it (though the macrocannage is def more of a “puffer” style, so that’s much more likely to look dated than the regular cannage), and the CD hardware is not overly obnoxious (IMO).

Have you tried on any of the bags in the boutique? I’m pretty certain @880 has mentioned her saddle bag from the men’s line, which she much prefers over the women’s, so maybe that’s another option to look at.

Yeah it’s pretty scary stuff- I personally prefer the regular cannage- I have a puffer YSL loulou so I don’t really need another puffy bag! But just general concerns about the Dior customer service and quality
That’s what I think too, it definitely is a great rival for the chanel classic flap. I guess the 30 montaigne has the CD hardware too.
I’ve tried on both- and it’s hard- the saddle bag feels more edgy but I think I can see my style suiting the Caro more.

I agree. I look at the caro as Dior’s version of the classic flap, just at a “lower” price point! The regular cannage in black is so pretty, and very classic.

Online CS does seem to be a disaster, but the track record for in-store experiences has been far better. I’ve had issues with both my LD, and my caro (both purchased in Paris), and overall, I received excellent customer service. If you can link up with a good SA, that seems to make all the difference.

You definitely have a tough, but fun, decision to make! Good luck, and please let us know what you end up choosing!
