I'm trying to decide which bag should be my first 'luxury' bag. I don't mean luxury as in Hermes. LOL. That's a dream. I'm talking about $1000-1500 worth of luxury. ;)

So, I like black, somewhat structured (no slouchy bags, please), and no logos.
I really wish I could get a black totally LV with just a tiny LV on it. But, that's not happening. Plus, it seems like LV is overdone where I live anyway.

I like totes that aren't too big, but not limited to totes.

What would you get?

Well if you want a cute mini bag then I suggest a Givenchy mini Antigona, also a mini Balenciaga city (they are a bit more structured than the larger ones), and a Proenza Schouler PS1 in the tiny size, a Givenchy mini Pandora, and a Celine trio in either small or large they are both under $1500

Oh and the Akris Ai shoulder bag is REALLY nice. I have a mini version and its really chic!

Also the new Reed Krakoff bag in the small size is really nice too.

Oh and the Gucci swing totes and the mini bamboo shopper is cute too!

Anya Hindmarch Ebury. The medium size is $1,450. It's built like the Prada Saffiano Lux tote (although I think I read somewhere that the Ebury actually came first), but it's made of goatskin and has a much more subtle logo. They usually come with two detachable straps, one that matches the bag and one that contrasts, which is a little different.

I agree-check out Anya Hindmarch. The sale should be coming up around Christmas, too.

+2 It's a great looking bag.

I apologize for not getting back sooner. This is so fun!

I really like all your ideas. I like the Hindmarch, but is that a 'luxury' brand? I'm vain enough to want something that feels super special, I just don't want to scream it. LOL.

So, a follow-up if you guys don't mind...

Out of the Ferragamo, the Givenchy, or the Reed Krakoff, or the Gucci...which would you say is the most exclusive?

I'm also worried about Gucci's quality.

Finally, thanks so much for helping a newbie. Love this whole site. I am hooked!

I would forget about which one is more exclusive, and just go with what you like. That notion is nothing more than a marketing ploy, in my opinion. For Anya Hindmarch, if the late Princess Diana was a fan of her designs, then it would be a pretty upscale brand, no? Her bags are quite big in England, as far as I know.

ahh~very good point. :smile1: Well said. Thanks.

Smaller bag suggestions:
LV Black epi alma BB (I love the shape of the alma best out of these three)
Fendi small 2jours
Givenchy mini antigona

Larger bag suggestions:
Mulberry bayswater or alexa (I prefer the bayswater out of these three)
D&G medium sicily

If you want a black totally, MK makes a similarly shaped tote in black leather. I have one and it;s a very practical bag :) not really luxury, but a good workhorse.

Personally I gravitate towards the smaller luxury bags, I tend to find the mini bags cuter, I'd probably go for the Epi Alma bb or the Fendi.

I'd check out the sub-forums and the bags in person for the quality as there are multiple perspectives.

Personally, my Guccis have withstood a lot and I love my RK bags and Ferragamo.

Go into the stores if you can and get the whole luxury experience. Everyone has a different opinion on what quality is and there's a lot you can't tell from pictures.
