Which bag should I get?

Ever since seeing some metallic leather options, I've been craving a metallic leather bag color-blocked with my three favorite shades. I first considered the Selene tote from MM and then started thinking about the MM Iride instead because I thought that maybe that style lends itself better to being color-blocked. I spoke with Marco about it though, and he actually thinks the Selene would look nice. However, while I was contemplating all of this, I found an Etsy shop that also has metallic leathers in the shades I want and can customize things. Now I have a plethora of options, and I'm just confused.

The three colors I'd like to use are a metallic turquoise, metallic coblat blue, and metallic dark blue:

The styles I'm now considering are these:

And my poorly-done mock-ups are here:

These are all obviously very different styles, but I'm not looking for a particular style with this one. Just the colors and leathers in whatever will look best. The largest is the MM Selene tote (uppermost left in the collages) while the smallest is the MM Iride (bottom left in the collages). My slight fear with something large is whether or not it is "too much", but I also use larger bags more than bags the size of the Iride. And non-MM bags can be altered to be more of a shoulder-bag than a tote, which I might do if I go for one of those. Honestly though, my biggest concern is really what looks best. I know this won't be everyone's style, but if you had to choose, which one would you go for?

I like 1 and 3. Small bags like the Iride don't work for me.

Thank you for your input! I usually don't go for small bags like the Iride, as I'm very much a large-capacity bag girl. I think I only started considering it because I was worried about all these metallics together being too much on a larger bag. I love them so much, but I also have a slight fear that my love is blinding me a bit and that I might be veering into "tacky" territory.

I love the balance of #3.

Thank you! I do like how 3 & 4 have a nice balance of all three colors. And I also thin I prefer #3 over #4.

I think I've narrowed down my choices to either #1 (MM Selene) or the design of #3 on a shoulder bag.

I've been quite torn on which one to go for. The MM would very likely be a much better quality (can't say for sure since I don't have an MM bag yet, but all the rave reviews lead me to be fairly certain about this). However, I'm not sure if I care about this metallic bag being a forever bag or not. I feel like it could go either way - I'll get it, love it, and want to carry it forever, OR I'll get it, think it's fun, but get over the metallic thing and move on. I don't think I'll know how I feel until I can see/feel/hold it in person.

Totes are also my favorite style of bag, and Marco can make the Selene with a bit of backing so that it's not a floppy pool of leather, so that's a point for MM. I don't want anything too structured, but I don't want anything super floppy either. I do fear the Etsy bag will be fairly floppy, based on the other bags in the shop, and while I have some bags like that, I'm finding they are not my favorite functionality-wise.

On the other hand, I have SO many totes and am trying to branch out of that style so going with the Etsy shoulder bag is intriguing to me. The Etsy shoulder bag would also cost far less (MM would be nearly 3x the price of the Etsy bag). So, points there for the Etsy. With the Etsy bag, I can also get rainbow hardware if I want - something I'm interested in because I do love rainbow hardware when it is done well (though I do realize rainbow hardware on a color-blocked metallic bag might be taking it into tacky/childish territory).

Any thoughts/advice?

Go for the Etsy bag. I love black bags but have a soft spot for metallic too. I bought a Kurt Geiger rainbow bag. It's not my dream bag and there were more cons then pros but I'm glad I didn't start off with a higher pricepoint. Although I love looking at the colours, I just don't love to wear them.

Somebody on youtube bought a bag that looks like the bags she wanted, but for way less. She called it her "road" bag. To test the road before she bought the real thing. In her case, half of the bags she tried were not good enough to buy. Too heavy, lockes that drove her crazy, too hard to get in or out off. Just the things that start bugging you after wearing a bag for some time.

You say that you crave a metallic bag. If I love a bag, I am so in love I overlook al of the possible flaws. If you arn't sure about this, I would suggest the cheapest option just to test the water. Just remember that this is a bag you want, not a bag you actually need.

Also let the forever thing go, you can never know if a bag is a forever thing in advance. Even if you love the brand, the colour, the leather, the hardware, the model and everything about it because you've tested that in other bags, this bag can still be something you just don't like to wear.
