I always had thought designers had to state where the item was made on their label - until I searched and could not find it! I do like their cashmere though

Not always. The information provided on labels depends on several factors, to include: the country of creation and the country of sale. Each country is unique, and has the capability to establish its own regulations. For the most part, we find that many do the maintain the same practices, to keep things simple, as well as accommodate the local economy. Often times when there are too many hoops to jump, many businesses/designers will opt out of a presence in those countries.

For example, in the U.S., the Bureau of Consumer Affairs tries to provide a standard of transparency for its citizens about textile products, so there are many details that need to be on the label. These details also vary by the situation, such as imported materials, country of creation, etc.
